Tim FitzPatrick & Amy Basse

Tim FitzPatrick & Amy Basse ~ Dynamic Fiddle and Guitar Duo

Individually, Amy Basse and Tim FitzPatrick turn heads — Amy with her energetic, passionate fiddle and sweet, honest singing and Tim with his driving guitar and his smooth, lonesome voice. Together, Amy and Tim delight listeners with their unique blend original material, classic country and folk songs, graceful waltzes, and fiery fiddle tunes from both sides of the Atlantic

A self described “reformed Classical violinist,” Amy Basse was captivated by the fiddle playing of Mark O’Connor at a festival appearance in the eighties. Since directing her energies on the fiddle, Amy has performed on stage with Lori McKenna, Aoife Clancy and Robbie O’Connell, Tom Rush and others. She also fronts her own band, Amy Basse and the Grasshoppers.

Tim FitzPatrick has been a part of the Massachusetts Bluegrass scene for several years. He has also branched out into Celtic and folk music, and performs with a number of local bands. He can also be heard singing harmony on Tracy O’Connell’s recent CD, Durango Red. In any setting, listeners appreciate his powerful singing and solid rhythm guitar playing.

Whether they're playing driving jigs and reels or timeless Hank Williams or Carter Family songs, Tim and Amy win over audiences with their love of the music they play.

Quotes:

“Tim FitzPatrick and Amy Basse prove that two musicians can turn you on to Celtic fiddle tunes, make you want to dance, get you thinking about an old love, and turn you into a Hank Williams fan—all in the space of an hour or so. These extraordinarily talented musicians are equally unassuming, creating stunningly beautiful music simply for the love of it.” ~ JB Sweeney, singer-songwriter and producer of the Cafe Ziba music series in Acton, MA

"I love when Amy plays fiddle on my songs.  It feels like she's playing FOR me.  I don't even know if she is aware that the audience is there.  She gets so deeply into the SONG.  For her, it is about the music and the emotion of it.  My favorite part of playing live music is when the listener goes on the ride with me.  Amy is playing her fiddle in the passenger seat - and she makes the crowd want to hop right into the back of the car." ~ Lori McKenna, singer-songwriter
