Villa Alumnae Updates

We have two Villa Grads who have recently been published! Kudos to them!

Villa Girl Marylou Kelly Streznewski '51

Marylou Kelly Streznewski '51 is an eclectic writer of poetry, fiction, non-fiction and journalism. She has taught writing from high school through college and community venues. As a member of the International Women's Writing guild she has served as a Workshop Director at their annual summer conferences. Two of her poetry books, "Woman Word" and "Rag Time" are housed in the chapbook collection of Poet's House (NYC). A third book, "Dying with Robert Mitchum," has been published by Aldrich Press. After teaching gifted students, she produced a study of one hundred gifted adults titled, "Gifted Grownups: The Mixed Blessing of Extraordinary Potential," which appears in over one hundred libraries worldwide and is used as a text in graduate courses. It has

been translated into Chinese and published in Taiwan, and has sold over eleven thousand units in both hardback and e-book.

Her second non-fiction work is "Heart Rending - Heart Mending, Saved by Medical Science, Healed by Ancient Wisdom," a research-based memoir of her survival of massive open heart surgery and healing using integrative medicine modalities. It combines poetry, prose, letters, and even the surgeon's note to

tell the story. Marylou's most recent book, "Sitting in the Shade of My Own Tree," was

published by Kelsay Books (December 18, 2019).

The 1951 Villa yearbook tells us that Marylou won a "cup and a trophy for Extemp Speaking....also a first place medal for Oratory. Besides that, she rates

as a top debater."
