Science Laboratory Technician in the School of Education

The School of Education is one of the largest providers of teacher education in the country and has a long-standing reputation for producing outstanding teachers. This post is to undertake the work of the Science Education Technician, supporting the programmes that are delivered at the University.

Courses that you will support:

• BA Primary Education QTS

• PGCE Primary Education QTS

• PGCE Secondary Education QTS (Biology, Chemistry and Physics specialisms)

• Pre-Initial Teacher Education Subject Knowledge Enhancement course in Chemistry

• Pre-Initial Teacher Education Subject Knowledge Enhancement course in Physics

You will have responsibility for working with tutors and students to ensure that all teaching sessions are appropriately supported and that the management of resources and teaching spaces are effectively conducted.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Laboratory Technician to work with tutors in the School of Education.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a laboratory setting, preferably in Schools or Colleges – supporting work up to A Level or equivalent. Ideally, you will have particular knowledge, skills and understanding in Chemistry, although you will be required to ensure that all subject disciplines in the school curricula are supported. Knowledge and understanding of IT and its role in supporting the Science curriculum will be an advantage as this role involves the maintenance of relevant technology.
