Job Title: Infusion Registered Nurse

Summary of Job Responsibilities for ______:

To Include But Not Limited To:

• The role of this position is to participate in a variety of activities.

• Infusion Program:

o Oversees patient and nursing scheduling along with MA.

o Prepares medications and infusions according to doctors’ orders.

o Starts and monitors infusions.

o Adheres to aseptic technique.

o Correctly document time line, vital signs, treatment and medications, to include any side effects or reactions during administration of drug.

o Maintains a safe and quiet environment for the patients.

o Tends to patients comfort and needs during infusions.

o Assist in the expedient turnover of medication administration.

o Serves as a resource person when the need arises.

o Complete charge tickets with correct dosing

o Assists MA when needed.

o Makes follow up infusion appointments.

o Keep a list of patients who are waiting to get in.

o OSHA Safety Person:

A. Keep the OSHA Handbook and Log up to date.

B. Have knowledge of OSHA rules and maintain staff training on safety.

• Maintains confidentiality of records.

• Performs related duties as required.

• Write procedures, along with MA, for the Infusion area and create a procedure manual for that area.

• Refill prescriptions when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited program of Registered Nursing.

• Current State Nursing license required.

• 1 to 2 years previous nursing experience in medical setting and starting infusion line, drawing medications and monitoring infusion patients.

• Must demonstrate competency with basic medical procedures related to nursing.

• Knowledge of rheumatology and treatment options necessary to educate patients and ascertain problems.

• CPR Certified.

• Good hygiene.

• Friendly demeanor.

• Computer knowledge/typing.

• Good verbal and written communication. Good spelling.

• Good phone etiquette.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Able to maintain confidentiality.

• Proficiency in IM, sub-cutaneous and intra-dermal injections.

• All medical skills and knowledge required of a Registered Nurse.

• Able to be friendly, helpful and courteous to patients and on the phone.

• Ability to identify specific parts of the medical record and identify where they should be located in the record.

• Ability to understand and perform duties of position

• Able to complete a complex variety of tasks in an organized manner.

• Thorough knowledge of policies and procedures relating to position.

• Ability to look ahead and plan work schedule accordingly.

• Able to treat patients and staff with consideration and respect.
