Position Title: School NursePosition Available: Immediate Primary Responsibility: To contribute to the goals and objectives of the School by assisting students and staff in attaining and/or maintaining optimum health and promote positive health habits and attitudes. This includes but is not limited to team leadership, healthcare planning, parent consultation and training, management of school health and safety, direct treatment and coordination of student nurses.Scope of Responsibilities:Provides special health care and related services to meet the needs of students with special needs such as g-tube feedings, seizure assessments and other minor emergencies.Cares for sick and injured students and arranges for an appropriate course of action.Administers medication/treatment when necessary for pupils to attend school according to district boards of education policy. Reports to the Commissioner and Department of Health the results of immunization status.Provides interpretation of health problems and medical reports to family and staff.Observes and recommends exclusion of students who show evidence of communicable disease.Monitors growth and development.Provides visual, auditory and dental referrals and follow up.Develops, updates and maintains the Health and Safety Standard Operating Procedures of the school.Maintains Individual Health Care Plans on students.Prepares and maintains accurate written nursing reports, immunization records and medical records.Attends daily classroom meetings for student updates.Qualifications: New Jersey School Nurse CertificationNew Jersey Board of Nursing LicenseBLS with AEDPhysical ability to lift 40 lbs.At least one year of related pediatric experience.P.G.
