Kinnick High School is located on Yokosuka Naval Base. It serves 9th-12th graders. Students living in Negishi or Ikego housing area are bused to and from school. Yokosuka Middle School is located on Yokosuka Naval Base. It is a 6th-8th grade school. Students living in Negishi or Ikego housing area are bused to and from school. Sullivans School is located is located on Yokosuka Naval Base. It is a K-5th grade school. Sullivans also offers a Sure Start program. Ikego Elementary is located in Ikego housing complex. The school serves K-4th grade students. Ikego Elementary also offers a Sure Start Program. Students in grades 5 living in Ikego are bused to Sullivans Elementary. A new school is being built which should be complete for the 2014-2015 school year. The new building will serve K-5 students. Byrd Elementary is located in Negishi housing complex. It is a K-5th grade school. Transportation is also available for students living in some off base areas. Byrd School will be closing at the conclusion of the 2013-2014 school year and students will be bussed to the new Ikego Elementary.

Documents needed to register: 1. Immunization Records

or contact your school nurse. USNH immunization clinic has walk-ins available M-F 0830-1130 call 243-9840 Students have 30 days from the day they start to be in compliance. For a medical or religious waiver see the school nurse.

Middle & High School:

You should register prior to meeting with a counselor, so please register upon arrival. The HS Guidance Secretary can set an appointment for you and the student to meet with a counselor. You can also call the HS Guidance secretary 243-9056 to set up an appointment. The MS registrar can help you with a MS counselor appointments.

Elementary School:

Families of elementary age children just arriving and in the Navy Lodge are to register at Sullivans School even if they don’t know where they will live. If you find out later you will be living in Ikego or Negishi, you will need to request that Sullivans School forwards your registration to the appropriate school and update your contact information. Contact the Sullivans’ registrar office at 243-2581. If you have housing paperwork for Ikego, but aren’t living there yet you may register in Ikego, but will have to provide your own transportation there until you move into Ikego housing.

Homeschooling – No base registration requirement.

School Lunches: Elementary : $2.40, Middle School $2.55, Reduced Price: $.40

*Apply for the federal free or reduced lunch program at the FFSC Work and Family Life office on the 4th floor in the new Community Center across from the Commissary.

*If you have an eligibility letter from your previous location, please submit that as it is still applicable in this location.

*NEX automated lunch system: Parents can register at the NEX cash cage to pay for school lunches. You will receive a PIN for your child to use at school to pay for lunch.

* HS Students have open campus lunch. Student may order lunch online on school sharepoint site. School lunches will be dispensed in the Sbarro’s buffet room.

Transportation: For students living off base or attending school in a location other than where they are housed, contact the transportation office for school bus stop locations & to get your child a bus pass. They will need to take a photo of your child. Room 216 B in building B39A. (next to CPO club) Phone 243-9566 M-F 0730-1600 (closed 1200-1300 for lunch)

There is an evening activity bus for high school students 1730 that picks up near the post office. Students must sign up online to ride the activity bus.

Students MAY ride the home to work bus- HOWEVER active duty and employees have priority. Student may only board at hospital stop and only if room is available. Please have a plan B in the event bus is full!

Housing: Once you sign for new housing, be sure to update your child’s contact information with the school right away. If your child has been attending Sullivans and you move to a different school zone, you will need to forward your registration to your zoned school. (Exception: IF you get housing during the 4th quarter, your child MAY request to continue at the same school until the end of the current school year. Approvals only made if there is space available. However, parents must provide their own transportation.) You MAY also register for Ikego PRIOR to actually moving to Ikego so long as you have documentation from housing that you will be moving. Parents will be responsible for transportation.

Grade Speed: is an online intranet program that allows parents of 4th-12 graders to stay connected to the students’ education by allowing them to view academic progress, attendance, school events, calendars, and providing easy communication channels to teachers via e-mail. links. Schools using this program will provide information to parents on setting up an account. dodpacific.

Criteria for acceptance is rank based with lower ranks having preference. Selections are made by a committee in late August. Thirty hours of parent participation are required. (Full day program)-free
