We are currently seeking to hire a Buyer. Reporting to the Manager of Sourcing & Procurement, the Buyer will be responsible for day to day procurement of assigned commodities / suppliers and services, in order to achieve proper inventory levels, balanced costs, efficiencies, and service levels, while ensuring overall product quality standards (cGMP, FDA, ISO, MDSAP and MDD) are achieved.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyzes MRP/ERP reports to purchase/schedule items, services and supplies as required to maintain/adhere to the production requirements at multiple sites.

• Communicates continuously with domestic and offshore vendors, in the execution of contracts, reviewing quantities, price, availability, covering possible adjustments, non-conforming materials, delivery methods/problems, and sourcing of new items and/or raw materials. Communicates status with management.

• Works closely with vendors/suppliers to implement JIT, and VMI programs.

• Prepares purchase orders for goods and services. Communicates with requisitioners when changes or price differences occur.

• Assists with maintaining records for all vendors and assures proper documentation is on file. Tracks vendor performance and communicates issues to suppliers.

• Assists New Product Development in obtaining necessary documentation.

• Studies inventories, recommending remedial actions for reported non-usable, slow moving, or excess stock. Works with management to set proper inventory levels and lead-times.

• Works with Planning, and IT, to assist validating Forecast/MRP logic and output.

• Back up to other buyers as assigned.

• All employees have the responsibility and authority to report any action that puts any process or product at risk.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education

High school diploma required. Bachelor degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or similar field preferred. A.P.I.C.S. certification preferred. Additional coursework or seminars in materials management preferred.

Experience

3 + years of procurement experience utilizing MRP and ERP software systems required.

Experience in a manufacturing environment with outside-processing and Retail customers a plus.

Skills & Abilities

Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Must be a self-starter, possessing excellent negotiation / communication skills, and enjoy working with a diverse employee base. Must be highly proficient in the use of MRP and ERP systems as well as MS Office. Previous use of databases a plus. Must be able to compute complex mathematical equations with many variables expressed in percentages, ratios, decimals, and fractions as well as able to follow statistical model as required. Must have the aptitude to analyze production reports, graphs, statistical models, memos etc., to allocate/purchase materials as production demands. Can handle stressful situations involving problems with multiple variables in a wide range of situations. Must be highly organized, able to carry out multiple functions simultaneously. Knowledge of manufacturing organization structure, policies, and procedures preferred.
