Step 5: Student Understanding & Signature

Saint Michael's College students who wish to take a selected course at Champlain College or the University of Vermont and have received approval from their academic advisor for the course, agree to the following conditions of participation in the consortium as an SMC student:

1. Only full-time (enrolled in at least 12 credits at SMC) undergraduate degree-seeking students in good standing may participate in this program.

2. Students may select from the regularly offered, face-to-face courses at Champlain College or may take one of the selected courses in Studio Art, Art History, or Language at the University of Vermont. Students should contact the Registrar's office at the host institution to obtain information about course offerings. The course you elect to take outside of SMC will be in addition to your (at least) 12-hour course load for that semester.

3. Only face-to-face courses offered during the academic year are included in the agreement and do not include summer session, winter session, online, or variable-credit courses.

4. Cross-registrations are accepted only on the basis of available space at the Host Institution. Available spaces for cross-registration students will be determined by each institution at the completion of their main registration periods.

5. Cross-registrations are limited to one course per student, per term, plus any associated lab course.

6. Students pay their normal SMC tuition and incur no tuition costs or comprehensive fees for the cross-registration course. However, students are responsible for any special fees or assessments associated with the cross-registered course (for example, field trips, supplies, etc.). Students will receive information about any such fees at the time of registration and will make payment for such fees at Champlain College or the University of Vermont. Students are also responsible for any sanction-related fees (for example, parking, library or other fines), imposed by the host institution and will be required to pay such fees in the manner and time prescribed by the host institution.

7. Students will receive all benefits and services associated with comprehensive fees from their Home Institution and not from the Host Institution. These benefits and services include but are not limited to: health care, counseling services, advising, athletic facility use, participation in student organizations and student life sponsored activities.

8. Students will comply with all regulations in effect at the Host Institution during the term in which they are enrolled including, but not limited to, student conduct codes, sexual misconduct/harassment and other non-discrimination policies, academic integrity policies, calendar deadlines and procedures for withdrawing from classes and payment of any additional charges incurred at the host institution. The procedures of the Host Institution to investigate and/or respond to policy violations shall be followed. Further all Host Institution policies regarding grading and grade appeals apply to any student enrolled in a cross-registration course.

9. Student will comply with the academic calendar of the Host Institution for dates of enrollment, add/drop dates, class meeting days, break days/weeks, exam schedules, vacations and holidays. (These dates may vary from your Home Institution's academic calendar.)

10. Students requiring accommodation for disabilities will obtain all required documentation and determination of reasonable accommodation from their Home Institution. Students will be required to consent to their Home Institution's disability services office sharing such information with the Host Institution disability services office if a student requires accommodation in a cross-registered course.

11. Students enrolled in cross-registration courses will be permitted to use the library and any other academic facility, such as studios, of the Host Institution necessary for full participation in the cross-registered course during the term the course runs.

12. Students are responsible to request that the host institution transmit a transcript of final grades to the Home Institution. Timing and availability of a transcript shall be in accordance with the policies of the host institutions, including any policy that allows the institution to hold transcripts if a student has an unpaid balance. (Seniors taking cross-registration courses should be aware that grade submission may be delayed, which could affect graduation status.) For SMC students taking courses at Champlain College: Your signed consent below grants Saint Michael's College permission to share your transcript and grades with Champlain College ? no official transcript request form will be required.

13. Students will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the host institution.

I have read the above and accept the terms and conditions of this cross-registration agreement. Upon completion of the course, I will request that an official copy of my transcript is sent from the host institution to the Saint Michael's College Registrar's Office.
