Things you can do to make the computer easier to see! (Without Zoom Text)By Erin LewisGet to the “Ease of Access” Settings:Go to the Start Menu (Press Windows Key)Option 1: Type “Ease of Access” and press Enter Option 2: Click on Control Panel, and in the menu that appears to the right find “Ease of Access” and click it.You should see this menu:Click on Set up High ContrastOn this new window find and click on “Choose a High Contrast Theme”.Scroll down the options. Near the bottom you’ll see:For a dark background pick one of these:High Contrast #1 High Contrast #2 High Contrast BlackLook for the heading “Explore All Settings”Find and Click on: “Make the Computer Easier to See”Find “Make things on the screen larger”Click on “Change the size of Text and Icons”Choose “Larger” out of the three options.Close this window.Now look for “Make things on the screen easier to see”Click the checkbox by “Make the Focus rectangle thicker.Find “Set the thickness of the blinking cursor”There is a combo box to the right of this. Change it from 1 to 4. (This makes it easier to keep up with where you are currently typing.)In the top right corner of this menu find the Back Button. (Does the same thing as the one in the internet- it will take us to a previous page. Go back to the Ease of Access Center main menu page.Click on “Make the Mouse easier to See” which will be located below “Make the computer easier to see”Choose a more visible mouse: Extra Large WhiteExtra Large BlackExtra Large InvertingOther things you can do:Change the Color Mode of the Computer. (Makes the menus and bars on the screen easier to read.Right Click in the Desktop.Left click on “Personalize”Near the bottom will be a link for “Window Color”Click on a new color. (Might have to test a few to find what works best for you!)Click Save Changes when you’re done.Change the background. Right Click in the Desktop.Left click on “Personalize”Near the bottom will be a link for “Desktop Background”There are options already in this menu to pick from. Or you can pick a solid color or add your own image as the background.Screen Resolution: Right Click on the desktopClick on “Screen Resolution”You will have to play with these settings. Your video quality, monitor size and OS will determine which will fit your needs best. (Some sizes will cut images off the screen.)But when you change the resolution size a menu appears asking if you would like to revert to the previous setting. This will take you back one step to the previous screen resolution if you pick a weird one.Screen Magnifier:Find “Start Magnifier” while in Ease of Access or Press Windows Key and type “Magnifier” press enter or click on item in list.Click on plus button to increase and minus button to decrease magnification.Click on Views to change view mode Full screen, Lens, or DockedTo change settings click on magnifier in taskbar or find: to bring up menu. ................
