Changing Eye Color

You can enhance your photo subject's eyes or even change eye color by using a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer in Photoshop.

Note: In this example, I’ve changed eye color from gray to green, but you can use the same procedure to change the color of any item in your image.

To change eye color:

1. On the duplicate layer, use the Selection brush (right click on Quick Selection Brush) to select the subject's eyes. Select both eyes at this time so the color will match perfectly. Making a selection will enable you to adjust only the color of the eyes.

2. Create a new Hue/Saturation adjustment layer above the image layer.

➢ Click on Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Hue/Saturation.

➢ Notice that the adjustment layer contains a mask filled with black and two white circles where you selected the eyes.

3. In the Hue/Saturation dialog box, check Colorize. Play with the Hue, Saturation and Lightness sliders until you find a color you like.

If you want to tweak the color more,

try different blend modes and opacity

settings. For example, a Blend mode

of Overlay will tone down the brightness

and bring out the contrast in the green eyes.

ASSIGNMENT

1. You are to search for 3 LARGE FILE SIZE Internet pictures showing a clear picture of eyes.

2. Use Google. Ensure that each picture is at least 800x600 in size.

3. Save each picture.

4. You must now change the eye color in each picture and then save the file.

5. Save each modified picture as a Photoshop File (NO JPEG’s yet) and name them:

a. Eye 1

b. Eye 2

c. Eye 3

6. I am expecting you to show me the original picture, and then how you have modified the eye color.

Good luck and have fun!!!
