✓ The song must illustrate a connection to the chapter (hint: think of the theme, characterization or conflict in the chapter).

✓ Print out the lyrics to the song that best illustrate the connection to the chapter.

✓ Prior to typing, you must complete the attached chart.

2) PROPOSAL:

✓ Write a four-paragraph “proposal” to the board of directors explaining how the song complements the chapter and why it should be on the soundtrack.

✓ In each body paragraph, you must provide at least one citation from the song, and at least one citation from the chapter to demonstrate how they connection to each other.

✓ A short introductory paragraph, two developed body paragraphs, and a short concluding paragraph are required for your proposal.

3) PRESENTATION:

✓ Be ready to present your chosen song to the class, who will act as the “board of directors” for the R&R Music Company.

✓ After you play part of your song, plan a minute of persuasive speaking to convince us of your choice.

Each paragraph should be 6-8 sentences in length and include the following:

➢ A topic sentence is a general statement or message at the beginning of the paragraph that describes what the paragraph is going to be about.

➢ The supporting details explain the topic sentence by giving specific examples and explanations. For the body paragraphs, be sure to include at least one citation from both the song and the novel. See below for examples of proper MLA formatting.
