About this courseCourse title: Adobe InDesign – BasicsCourse description: Adobe InDesign is a page layout and desktop publishing software application that can be used to create newsletters, flyers, posters, books, newspaper, and magazines. It also supports ePub and SWF formats used to create eBooks and digital publications. This workshop will help familiarize you with InDesign as you explore the design tools; learn how to create a new document; customize character and paragraph panels; and use text, text frames, images, and image frames in the process of creating a newsletter for your department or class.What you should already know: You should have basic computing skills (i.e. using a mouse and keyboard, formatting text, and saving and organizing files).What you will learn:By the end of class, you will learn how to create documents and navigate the Adobe InDesign interface by creating a newsletter and adding text, images, and a logo. You will experiment with using different tools and arranging elements on the page. Finally, you will learn how to package your InDesign files so that all of the images and fonts are saved with the file and export the project as a PDF.What you will need:For this course, you will need an active KU Online ID if hosted at the Budig Computer Labs. Otherwise, you will need access to InDesign and the practice files.Course objectives:Explore how to create and lay out a document in InDesign.Examine sample classroom projects in InDesign.Create a simple newsletter following a step-by-step process.
