Mustang Flyer

Greetings MPE!It’s been a great week of learning! ?As always, there are lots of things happening! We are hosting a Parent Coffee tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. in my office. ?The topic is “Unlocking the Mysteries of MPE”...do you wonder what these mean: SST, EIP, IEP, PBL, DRA, ETC?!?! ??Please join us for a dive into the meaning of the ever-present acronyms we use in education. ?We also kicked off our Cure Childhood Cancer campaign. ?We are collecting donations for this worthy cause in the front office each morning. ?This is a cause especially close to our hearts, as we have all been working in support of 2nd grader Wyatt Pope and his family (#wywystrong) as he fights DSRCT. ?We also support this charity in memory of our dear student, Creed Campbell, MPE Mustang 2010-2012. ?Students who donate a dollar or more get to put their name on a gold star on the wall. ?#Makeitgoldforkids ?Wear gold on Wednesdays to support this cause.Stacy PerlmanPrincipalSeptember is Attendance Awareness MonthSubmitted by Pamela HaightWe had a successful kick-off to our attendance awareness program: “Five and Below: Keep Your Eye on the Ball.” Several students and staff members wore their team jerseys last Friday to help us remember to keep an eye on our number of student absences. ?Not only does attending school regularly help students feel better about themselves, but it also contributes to a positive school rating. ?To contribute to our positive school rating, our goal is for students to have five or fewer absences; this includes approved absences. ?Please help us to meet our goal by avoiding well visit medical appointments and extended trips when school is in session. ?Thank you, and we look forward to having our students in school learning each and every day!How to Notify School of Child’s Transportation ChangesSubmitted by Pamela Haight Please take a minute to review our student handbook policy on transportation changes. ?If you need to make a transportation change during the day for that afternoon, please make sure that you call our front office. Our teachers are teaching during the day and don’t always have a break to check emails. ?This could also be problematic if your child’s teacher is out that day and there is a substitute. ?Thank you!TRANSPORTATION CHANGES:To change the way you go home, you need a Transportation Change form or a note signed by your parent.E-MAIL IS NOT TO BE USED FOR TRANSPORTATION CHANGES. Teachers cannot always check their email during instructional time and could miss an important message. This note must be given to your teacher when you arrive at school in the morning. If you leave school early, you must be signed out through the office by a parent/guardian or a parent designee, with written permission from your parent.Only in an emergency can the Transportation Department, the principal, or the assistant principal approve for you to ride a bus other than your regular bus without a written note. If your parents need to pick you up early from school, we ask that they check you out NO LATER THAN 2 PM because the office and parking lot get very busy after that. No changes after 2 PM can be accommodated.Kindergarten, 5th Grade to Host Staff Breakfast on the GoSubmitted by MPE Staff Appreciation CommitteeThe kindergarten and 5th grade classes will be hosting Breakfast on the Go on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
