Cordless Scanner w/ USB – Windows Powering off Port
Problem: After working for some time, the scanner no longer works, and gives “fast beeps” or is unresponsive.
Possible Solution: Change USB “Power Saving” Settings (for Windows XP)
1. Click START → Control Panel → and double-click “System”

2. Click on the “Hardware” tab, and click “Device Manager”

3. Expand the branch called “Universal Serial Bus Controllers” and choose (double click) the correct USB port (often this is USB Root Hub)

4. In the USB drive properties, select the “Power Management” tab, and UN-CHECK the box that says “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”
