NPR-FM 89.1FM/AM 1550 - Best Radio Station for News
Readers Pick
“With strong local journalists like Robert Rappaport, Christopher Conover and Mark McLemore (newscasters with non-alliterative names need not apply), KUAZ keeps Southern Arizona in the know. Programs like Arizona Spotlight highlight issues facing the community, while NPR shows like Morning Edition, Talk of the Nation and Fresh Air give listeners a global perspective. If Diane Rehm bores you, there's always the weekend. Let Prairie Home Companion's Garrison Keillor regale you with tales of Lake Wobegon, or learn not to drive like either of Car Talk's Magliozzi brothers. During your commute through Tucson's urban sprawl, KUAZ will help you grow and learn.” – Tucson Weekly, September 22, 2011.

Arizona Public Media's Teachers Voices Series
Staff Pick
“No matter what the state Legislature thinks about public education, there are many remarkable teachers doing remarkable things within our classrooms. Arizona Public Media's KUAZ FM 89.1/AM 1550 has been documenting many of these success stories through its Teachers Voices series. Host Mark McLemore has put together a treasure trove of stories about educators who offer innovative approaches to facilitating critical thinking, while getting kids more involved and connected to their own potential. These stories are nothing short of a revelation in terms of how much we don't know about what's really good in our schools.” – Tucson Weekly, September 22, 2011.
The Teachers Voices Series is a partnership between Tucson Values Teachers, Wells Fargo, the UA College of Education and Arizona Pubic Media. The year-long series consists of three-minute segments modeled after NPR’s highly successful StoryCorps. The segments feature a teacher, a student, superintendent, business leader, elected official or parent. These stories capture the alchemy and professionalism of teaching.
