The library will be closed all day on Friday, September 30th.    No exceptions due to Book Fair display.   All student aides need to report to Ms. Glaza in the guidance office.

Yearbooks can now be ordered online! Place orders at . Search for Pendleton County High School on the yearbook section of the page.

It’s the first Literary Gala!  On October 12, the library will host the first Gala of the year.  The theme for this is Read a Banned Book.  Teachers have chosen several challenged books for the selection, and you should choose one to read.  If you prove you have read—and only if you prove you have read—you will be eligible for door prizes chosen especially for you!  Also, pizza and drinks are provided for the Gala.  Read, eat, discuss, and win!  The Gala starts at 3:10 on October 12 in the cafeteria.  Hope to see you there!

A student at our school, Mason Monroe has won the WCPO Student of the Week.  They filmed an interview.  It will air on Monday October 3, 2011 during the 6 a.m. broadcast and will air again on Wednesday October 5, during the 5 p.m. broadcast.  WCPO Channel 9 – Cincinnati Ohio.  

Help support Project Grad 2012 by reserving your “EWE DOO” Block

They are 2' x 2', and if the sheep doo-doos in your block, you get money!

They are $5 a block, and the “drop” takes place on Oct. 9 at the Wool

Festival. You do not have to be present to win.

To reserve a block, contact any Senior.

The SENIOR CLASS is collecting [pic] receipts.  Please turn receipts into the front office.  The collection will go on all year. This is an easy way to help the seniors earn money towards graduation. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Kentucky Career Center-Pendleton One Stop Office Offering Free Computer Classes

The Pendleton County One Stop office located at 500 Chapel Street, Falmouth, KY is gearing up for Fall Computer Classes. These classes are free for job seeking adults. Classes offered in October include: Introduction to Computers, Introduction to Word, Interview 101, Career Opportunities and Job Search Success Workshop and Introduction to Excel. Health & Wealth Challenge 2011

   6 Habits - 6 Weeks! That is the challenge the Northern Kentucky Cooperative

Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Agents are giving to everyone in the eight-county northern Kentucky area. Health & Wealth Challenge 2011 runs from August 29 to October 9, 2011. Those who complete and log 6 health and wealth habits during the challenge, and submit their completed tracker form will be eligible for a number of nice prizes including an overnight stay at General Butler State Resort Park with breakfast for two, iTunes gift cards, gas cards and Living Well books.

2012 Horatio Alger Association Scholarship Programs are now available. Go to the online

application at scholarships Deadline is October 30.

Morehead Honors Scholarships are now available in the guidance office. Deadline is

December 1.

The foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) announces the annual “Freedom in

Academia” student essay contest. FIRE will award over $12,000 in college scholarships.

Information is available in the guidance office or go to contest Deadline to

enter is November 5.

School Heisman, KY Ready Mix Concrete Essay Competition and Presidential Spirit of

Community Award.

Juniors:

Central Kentucky Council on Youth Leadership will sponsor the annual “Youth Salute”. To qualify a student must:

1. Be a high school junior (Class of 2013).

2. Have a cumulative 3.0 GPA through sophomore year.

3. Have held Two Leadership roles to which they were chosen by their peers or adult leader within the past two years.

Juniors & Sophomores:

It's time to register for the PSAT.

The PSAT is a national test and will be given here on October 12 from 8 to 11.  The cost is $15.

The PSAT is the preliminary SAT and it serves as the only qualifying test in the National Merit Scholarship Competition and for corporate scholarships managed by the College Board. 

Also the Kentucky Governor's Scholars Program requires that all applicants submit either an ACT or PSAT score for eligibility so students who wish to apply for this program must have already taken one of these tests, be registered for the October ACT or register for the PSAT.  Juniors applying for GSP can submit both scores and the best score will be used as the eligibility standard.
