for Elementary, Middle and High School Principal,

First Year Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year

Nominees for the Principal, First Year Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year should overwhelmingly demonstrate the following characteristics. Recommendation letters should include examples of how the nominee demonstrates each of these characteristics.

• Concern for all students and an obvious passion for increasing success for all students

• Concern for all staff members and the ability to inspire them

• Understanding and commitment to diverse groups within the community

• Commitment to life-long learning and professional development

• Strong commitment to continuous school improvement processes

• Laser -like focus on data driven decision making that has a meaningful impact on teaching and learning

• Ability and passion to create a safe environment that is conducive to teaching and learning

Instructions for Submitting

Nomination Documents

Nomination Categories:

• Elementary Principal of the Year (POY)

• Middle School Principal of the Year (POY)

• High School Principal of the Year (POY)

• Elementary First Year Principal of the Year (FPOY)

• Middle School First Year Principal of the Year (FPOY)

• High School First Year Principal of the Year (FPOY)

• Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year (APOY)

• Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year (APOY)

• High School Assistant Principal of the Year (APOY)

Submission of Hard Copy Nomination Packets:

1. Hard copies of nomination documents should be submitted in a large envelope to Ryan Professional Development Center (4001 Hardy St., 77009). Indicate the names of the SSO, Campus, Nominee and Award Category in the top, right hand corner of the envelope. The envelope must contain the following documents:

a. Current resume of nominee

b. Recommendation letter from the SSO

c. Two recommendation letters from staff

d. One recommendation letter from a parent, student or community member

2. To submit the application via the electronic dropbox, you will need to create an account on . Instructions:

b. Create a folder for the nominee’s files and name it using the following format:

LastName.FirstName.School.Category

Example: Doe.John.ReaganHS.APOY

c. Upload all of the relevant documents (same as listed above: resume, SSO, staff and parent/student/community letters) to your nominee folder. Save each file with the nominee name and document type:

LastName.FirstName.document

Example: Doe.John.parentletter

d. Using the share feature, share you nomination folder with lparkin@. In the “optional” message text box, please include your name and email address so that we will be able to contact you.
