Board Characteristics/Competencies

Common Attributes: What’s required of all Board members

To be a member of CAMRT in good standing.

Evidence of leadership in the MRT profession (with CAMRT through committee or task group work, with a Provincial OrganizationPMA or college through service on their board or committees, or other significant involvement with the profession)

Evidence of personal characteristics:

• being an effective team player

• demonstrating mature confidence

• using informed judgment

• being able to listen to and weigh different points of view

• having a record of integrity/respect

Evidence of connection with members, preferably from several disciplines

Willingness/ability/commitment to serve for the full three-year term (i.e. attend 2 board meetings, 1 teleconference and provincial duties as required)

Willingness to take on other involvement such as participation in a committee/taskforce or workgroup

Core Competencies: What needs to be brought to the board by some among the board membership

There will be at least one board member from each of the four disciplines (radiological technology, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine, magnetic resonance imaging).

There will be at least one board member:

• from each province

• who works in an MRT education program

• who works as a manager/supervisor/leader, and,

• who works as a direct patient-contact practitioner.



Strategic Competencies: These abilities will shift from time to time depending on the strategic orientation of CAMRT

Examples could include experience with:

• Influencing governmentsAdvocacy

• Interventional radiography

• Database development and management

• International connections

• Linkages/affiliation with key stakeholders

• Conducting research

• Financial oversight

• Strategic planning

• Policy development

• Recent technological developments

• Youthful

• Sonography

Proficiency in Canada’s two official languages
