Activities

The Trust operates by giving grants to organisations and, less frequently, to individuals. The charitable object is the advancement of education for the public benefit. The Trustees have interpreted that as enabling them to support other charities working to help the education and development of young people, other organisations which carry out similar functions and individuals who need assistance with courses. However, grants to individuals will rarely be appropriate as the Trustees seek to help as many people as possible with each grant.

Grants given

Grants have tended to be for equipment and project costs or for bursaries. Salary costs have rarely been met to date, but these could be met in the future for an appropriate project.

Priority has been given to North East Fife and surrounding areas, but projects have been helped throughout Scotland.

In recent times we have helped local schools with equipment, outward bound and leadership courses, book and science festivals, heritage projects related to education, first aid education and rural education. We have also helped medical and social bodies with projects which are education related.

Grants to the same organisation will not be possible normally without a gap of three years between them.

How to apply

You should write to the above address giving full details of the project and reason for the request. In appropriate cases, a copy of the last set of accounts should be sent. You should also complete the attached form.

Meetings of Trustees are held quarterly in February, May, August and November. Applications should be sent by the 14th of the month before the meeting at which you wish them to be considered (that is 14 January, April, July or October).
