ThomasPrincipalCreate a great day!Greetings,?????We are all gearing up for the Super Bowl Sunday in hopes that Cam, Luke, and the boys bring home the Lombardi Trophy for Super Bowl 50 back to NC for the first time! ?If you are interested in purchasing a Super Bowl 50 program, please?click HERE?and follow the prompts. ?This company has partnered with CMS PTA to provide a portion of the proceeds from each program purchased back to schools. ?The books will be delivered next week to schools.We have a busy February ahead with a variety of events including "Bring your family to school week." Please look for a packet of information coming home on Monday on how your family can participate in these events. ?Report cards and MAP reports were sent home on Wednesday. ?If you have questions about MAP, please refer to our website for documents that explain the report. ?Finally, we are not having a Valentines Dance this year due to lack of interest in past years, but our Arts Booster will be hosting a spring dance in March (specific information will be shared soon).CMS is currently seeking input from parents regarding the future of student assignment. ?Please refer to the article below to access the online survey.Please ?make your thoughts known?The School Board?is seeking input from parents, CMS employees and other Mecklenburg County residents to help inform how CMS students are assigned to schools.The survey is designed to gain valuable feedback?on what's important to community members when considering their child's education?or public education overall.The survey is part of the Board's comprehensive student assignment review process which started in February 2015 and is expected to continue throughout the year.Maximizing academic achievement by every student in every school is our core mission.?The student assignment process is our opportunity to rethink how we can provide families with greater choices to?satisfy the unique interests and aspirations of our students as we prepare them to become future leaders in our communities, businesses and workplaces.Survey results?will be used to inform any changes to the district's student assignment plan, which would take effect in the 2017-2018 school year.The success of our public schools impacts all of us. You can also access the survey on any school website.?The online survey can be taken in English or Spanish.?Individual paper copies in other languages will be made available upon request.Chocolate roses are back!The National Junior Honor Society is sponsoring our?chocolate rose sale?from?February 8th - 12th, just in time for Valentine's Day. ?Students and parents can purchase roses before school and during lunches for $2.00.??Roses will be delivered to students in their Red Block (homeroom) on?Friday, February 12th.? Tables will be set up in the main hallway from 8:45 - 9:15, as well as during all grade-level lunches.?For delivery purposes,?parents and students must have the full name of the person receiving the rose(s), as well as the name of the recipient's Red Block teacher when they make their purchase.???A portion of the proceeds will once again be donated to the American Cancer Society.Lacrosse Tryouts for BaileyBMS Lacrosse tryouts will be held over two days,?Thursday, 2/4 and Monday 2/8,?6:00 - 7:30 pm on the Bailey field.Please join Coaches Lindekens and Sappington for tryouts.? All players must attend tryouts to be considered for the team.? The team will be comprised of 6-8th grade boys.??We will play 10 league games and several out of league opponents as well.? The league championships will be played at the end of April/ beginning of May. ?We are looking forward to bringing the team some new and exciting technology, a revised playbook and a lot of lacrosse!Kudos to our Cyber PatriotsThe Bailey Middle Cyber Patriot Team finished first in the North Carolina?Middle School Division in the January 29-31?State?Competition?Round, and?was?recently awarded a certificate of achievement for making it to the National semi-finals. The national event will be held?February?26.?Team members are: ?Gabe Miller,?Rees Payne,?Ben Tranium,?Jacob Seeber,?and?Jason Bell.??The team is support by Mr. Wall in the CTE Department.?Cyber Patriot is the National Youth Cyber Education Program created by the Air Force Association to inspire high school, middle school and elementary school students toward careers in cyber-security or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future and to help students be safe on line. ?Over 3300 teams are in the current?competition.Fire up those crockpots?It's Chili Cook Off time again, so get your crock pots out and find your best recipe!On?Wednesday, February 17th?we will be providing Chili for the Teachers as they preview the Book Fair.We would love for you to help us make this happen.
