Dear NC Synod,
In response to the recent shootings in Charlotte, our NC Synod office has been in touch with our Charlotte-area pastors and our synod's African Descent Strategy Team. Together, we have decided to gather at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Charlotte, this coming Wednesday, October 5, for a day that involves three things. You may join us for one or for all, but we hope you will come. Pastors and congregational members are invited. And, if you're unable to come, please join us for worship using the live stream link posted on our synod's homepage: .
SCHEDULE 10 a.m. a meeting with open conversation What kind of church do we need to be to faithfully respond to the shootings in Charlotte? Included in this conversation will be pastors and congregational leaders in addition to Capt. Campagna, Dr. Sadler, and other community leaders. 1:00 p.m. an afternoon of presence in the community We go into the community, two by two, to places of pain and grief to ask: How may we pray for you? 6:30 p.m. an evening service of prayer We ask for God to heal our land featuring worship together, a sermon with Pastor Albert Starr, and several stations available after the sermon for prayer, anointing, and confession. I will be participating in all of the day's activities. You are invited to join us on October 5 in Charlotte. Join us as we pray with our feet as well as our voices.
