ALTITUDE INFORMATION186771812700Salt Lake City is 4,330 feet above sea level. The air is thinner and drier here, but don’t let that worry you! Here are some tips on how to prepare for the difference in altitude. DRINK WATERBefore your trip to SLC, and while you are here, drinking plenty of water is the best way to help your body adjust easily to the higher altitude. Higher altitude usually means you may need to drink more water than you’re used to with the air being dry like a desert. EAT FOODS HIGH IN POTASSIUMFoods such as broccoli, bananas, avocado, cantaloupe, celery, greens, bran, chocolate, granola, dried fruit, potatoes and tomatoes will help you replenish electrolytes by balancing salt intake. Pack your favorite electrolyte drink to help your child stay hydrated. WATCH YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITYThe effects of exercise are a bit more intense here. Be careful when doing any training. PACK FOR SUNEven though the average temperature in June doesn’t get as hot as other places on the west coast, the effects of the sun are strong. Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and lip balm.
