New Consultant Frequently Asked Questions

(and other helpful info)

1. What is the “Pure Romance All Star Team” and how did I get here?

The Pure Romance All Star team is comprised of over 150 consultants across the U.S. who are in Janna Marie Vukelich's (me!) 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Downline. If you are not personally sponsored by me, then one of my PR “daughters”, “grands” or “great-grands” is your sponsor. CONGRATS! You have joined a very successful and supportive team of women who are here to cheer you on and support you as you begin this exciting journey. As a team member, you also have access to supplemental training materials and exclusive team-only incentives beyond what is offered by Pure Romance.

Our team website is (see your sponsor for the password)

2. How do you log on to the Consultant Website?

When you become a consultant you will receive an email welcoming you to the company that will contain your Consultant ID number and you password (your password is the last 4 of your SSN).

To login to the consultant website, visit , click “consultants” and enter your consultant id number and password.

3. What Should I do First?

• Schedule your debut party AND check out the document titled “6 Steps to hold six parties in sixty days” AND....challenge yourself to do this!

• Complete all 10 New Consultant Missions on our team website! Whether or not your sponsor offers incentives for completing them, challenge yourself to do ALL 10!! They were created to help you navigate the many resources available and focus on what is most important to know NOW.

• If you live in Minnesota, put the next PR Basic Training on your calendar and ATTEND!

4. Am I “Active”? If not how and why do I become an Active Consultant?

When you purchased your kit, you received a lot of great products a huge discount. If you purchased the Gold or Platinum kits, you are “Active! If you purchased the Bronze or Silver kits (or a special kit), to become an “active consultant” (i.e. demonstrate that you are serious about the business, not just interested in getting the products for cheap!). You need to place a $250 retail order within 60 days of ordering your kit. This $250 purchase is the amount BEFORE your discount. After your discount, it will cost you $163 before tax/shipping.

If you do not become active within 60 days you will need to buy a whole new kit!

When you do your first party, you will more than likely sell a sufficient amount of products to place an activation order.

However, I also encourage you to consider taking advantage of the “Demo Booster” or “Inventory Booster” packages. This special offer is only available for the first 60 days after you purchase your kit and will allow you to build inventory with some best selling products at a low cost and become “active” at the same time!

5. What should I give away for door prizes, hostess gifts, games and specials?

Everyone uses different items, but the main thing to remember is to give away Pure Romance products…they do not need to be expensive!

• $1 or $5 PR Bucks (available on our team website) redeemable off the winner’s order

• Peter Lipsticks (in business supplies)

• Foil sample packs (like Whipped, Pure Pleasure, Sensations, etc)

• Travel sized products (i.e. Mini Nights of Passion split up)

Video on cheap giveaways here:

Note: I actually give away very few door prizes throughout my party. Instead, guests earn raffle tickets throughout the party by helping me with my

demo, playing the “Have it, Love it” game, or asking me questions about my business. At the end of the party, I draw one winner for a “big prize” such

as a Silver Bullet, the Heart Massager I used for my demo, something I got for free, etc.

6. How does my hostess receive her credits and gift? The hostess program is not company paid so you are responsible for providing hostess credits (10% of the party sales total) and a free gift (up to your discretion) to your hostess. You will total up her order and take the credit off the end based on the sales of her party (so for a $500 party before tax and shipping, she would receive a $50 credit). Remember, your hostess is your business partner. She is giving you a “storefront” to present in, marketing you and bringing customers to you. Take good care of her :)

7. How can I earn more than my base discount and/or make more $$$?

• When available, purchase items in 6 packs! Many of our best selling products are available in six packs. When you buy a six pack a consultant with a 35% buying discount is essentially earning a 41% profit on each item. A consultant with a 50% discount is earning 55% profit on each item…talk about increasing your profit!

• Special Sales: Corporate frequently offers sales that allow you to earn even more free product or additional profit! These sales usually apply to orders over $600 so, combine your parties and increase your profit!

• Complete the Fast Track Program! Earn hundreds of dollars in additional free products as you advance through the Fast Track! See the flyer that came in your kit for details.

• Build your team: Another very easy way to increase your buying discount is to sponsor other consultants into your team. See your Incentives Requirement Guide for a breakdown of buying discounts and consultant levels.

• Birthday & Anniversary Discounts: You receive a 5% birthday discount on one order during the month of your birthday and the month of your PR anniversary. You cannot combine these to have a 10% off one order if both fall in the same month. Of course, choose your largest retail order of the month to take advantage of this deal and just check the “birthday” or “anniversary” discount box from the ordering page when you place your order!

• Achieve $1200 in retail sales each month: and earn more FREE products every month that you hit this mark! See your Incentives guide for details.

8. Where do I order Business Cards?

You will run out of your temporary cards quickly. Pure Romance requires that we order official Pure Romance business cards through Vista Print to maintain a consistent image. Visit the Pure Romance consultant website and go to Orders/Business Partners/Vista Print to order your official business cards (be sure to select the glossy option!)

9. What are some items I may need right away in starting my Pure Romance business?

While there really is no universal answer to this question, below you will find some suggestions that I think are beneficial for getting started. Save your receipts!

• Plastic Solid Colored Bins: These will be used for storing your products. Be sure to keep your demonstration items separate from your ‘store’. For confidentiality, clear storage units are discouraged. Rubber Maid bins and rolling tool boxes are good options. Visit our team website for photos of storage options used by other consultants.

• Personalized Ink Stamper: Be sure to include your name & phone number (including area code). This is a very valuable tool. You will want to stamp all paperwork, including product brochures and order forms. Visit for reasonably priced stamps.

• Calculator: Any calculator will do.

• Money Bag: You will want to get something to keep your money (usually $25 in change), and checks in. Money bags are available at Office Max or online at the PR store. Visit PR web site/ business tools/ links/Pure Romance Gear.

• Filing System: . Save yourself time during tax season by keeping all business expense receipts in one location. Consider purchasing a portable filing box/cabinet. Check out the video on how to keep paperwork organized in our “video library” at

• Batteries: Make sure the batteries in your demonstration toys are good and charged to show the full capabilities the product has to offer. Always carry extra batteries with you at your parties.

• Pens: Make sure you supply your guests with pens to complete their order forms and fill out their customer connection cards.

• Mailing Envelopes and Shipping Supplies: You will need envelopes to mail out Hostess Packets, Recruiting Packets, and backorders. Bubble mailers are best to use for backorders under 13oz as they cushion product and are not heavy. Check out for inexpensive bubble mailers!

You can also order free priority mail boxes at . Note that if you use the boxes, you will need to pay priority shipping.

10. Where can I locate my Office Max Card?

You can download and print your Office Max card on the Pure Romance consultant website. It is available under: Orders/Business Partners/Office Max.

11. What is the easiest way to contact members of the PR All Star Team?

Facebook Group: Get to know your sister consultants! We have a very active team Facebook group that is “secret” meaning your membership/posts will not appear on any feeds of nonmembers. You can adjust your settings from the group page so that you do not receive email notifications every time a member posts. Please keep posts positive and business related.

12. How do I collect and report Sales Tax for products sold?

Pure Romance has made this easy for us! When you place an order with Pure Romance you pay State and Local Sales tax up front based on the retail price of products purchased. Pure Romance in turn submits taxes paid to your state/municipality, so you do not need to file separately (note: please don’t confuse sales tax with income tax! You will still need to file an income tax return like everyone else).

When you sell products, you will charge your customers sales tax on purchases that will “reimburse” you for the costs incurred.

You charge sales tax based on the location of your home (i.e. your “store”) regardless of where the party is located. Minnesota residents can find the sales tax for your home by visiting

13. What do I need to do for Income Taxes?

You will need to file your federal taxes in April, along with everybody else. The good news is that by owning a home business, we have a great number of allowable deductions, which will work in our favor. Save EVERY business related receipt to ensure you can claim the maximum number of deductions!

Starting out it is recommended to have a filing system that you can keep all of your receipts for the year in one spot. You will also want to get some type of log book to keep track of your mileage. Mileage is one of the biggest deductions you will have for the year so it is imperative that you keep good records in order to have a higher deduction.

I also advise that you consider working with an accountant because they will know other deductions and the best/easiest way to keep track of business related expenses. Please understand that I am not a tax professional and cannot give advice on tax preparation. However, record keeping can be very simple! Ideas for beginning your ledger pages and tips for tax time are available on our team website (, password: tom) “documents”.

14. Where can I order PR Logo Merchandise?

PR Gear is Pure Romance’s supplier for Logo’d merchandise. To access the PR Gear website from the Pure Romance consultant website, go to Orders/Business Partners/PR Gear. Bonus: this logo merchandise is a tax deduction for your business!

15. How do I process Credit Cards?

There are multiple options for purchasing credit cards.

If you have a Smart Phone (Android or iPhone)

PayPal Here: Dowload “PayPal Here” app on your phone and sign up for your free swiper. No terminal fee / contract / monthly fee. Only credit card processing fee as with all credit card processing options. Funds available on your PayPal account immediately

OR

Square: Visit for information and to sign up for your free swiper. It generally takes 2-3 business days for funds to deposited into your bank account.

If you do not have a Smart Phone (or prefer to receive funds within 24 hours)

Pure Romance Quick Credit Card Entry: You can choose to process credit cards through Pure Romance directly. You will be charged a 5% fee on the transaction total and the remaining amount will be given to you as credit on file. This is a multi-step process that requires a phone authorization and card entry. Funds are available immediately. Please note that when you process cards through Pure Romance, you CANNOT receive the funds as cash. It is credit only.

Propay: If you do not have a smart phone and are consistently doing at least $500 in credit card sales per month OR you would like to request payment via email for outside orders, you may want to consider Propay. There is an annual fee for this service, but you receive the funds as CASH vs. credits on file, and the processing fee is lower. Funds are generally available via a prepaid debit card within 24 hours. Propay offers a special rate to Pure Romance consultants. To check it out, visit ?refid=PUREROMA

Remember that there will ALWAYS be a processing fee associated with processing credit cards. That’s how Visa/Mastercard etc. make money! However, many

women WILL spend more if they can use plastic, so accepting credit cards means YOU ultimately will make more money ϑ

16. What additional training opportunities are available to me?

Those who show up, go up! The most successful consultants without exception take advantage of training and networking opportunities. You wouldn't dream of starting a new job with NO training....and certainly can't expect to run a successful business without taking the time to educate yourself! In addition to the conference calls and online training offered by our corporate office be sure to take note of the following:

• Shadowing Parties Shadowing parties of other consultants is a common practice and is one of the BEST ways to learn the business! Be sure to read the shadow etiquette prior to shadowing a consultant.

• New Consultant Basic Training: Lead by top consultants in Minnesota and offered monthly – a MUST attend for new consultants who live in Minnesota

• Pure Romance University LIVE: Offered a couple times a year by our corporate office in various markets across the country. Learn from top consultants and staff from across the country! Register through your consultant online office. Cost is $20 to attend.

• Team Meetings: We offer LOTS of options for meetings so you can be sure to find something that works with your schedule. Check out “Meetings & Events” on our team site for a list. If you live within a 75 mile radius of the Twin Cities, you MUST attend team meetings to receive your earned incentives. If your are outside of the region, we stream our meetings via the web and/or can connect you to a network in your area to plug into. MN Consultants, visit for a complete list of MN team meeting options offered by Directors and above.

• World Conference – Pure Romance offers World Conference in Cincinnati, OH in August. If you are serious about growing your business, you will make every effort to attend this event! This is when all of our new products are revealed and explained and we are given the opportunity to meet with Patty, Chris, and the Corporate Staff and PR sisters from across the country! Experience knowledge, laughter, and camaraderie - this is an event you CANNOT afford to miss out on!!!

Creating a “Show Kit”

“What do I include in my show kit?” is a question many new Consultants fret over needlessly. The choices are entirely up to you and your kit will continuously change as your customer base changes. Your goal should be to show a variety of items that appeal to a variety of women. Do NOT strive to demo everything in the catalog. If you were to show every item in our product line, you would be in your hostess’ home for well over 4 hours just doing your demo. You would also need to invest $100’s in addition to your initial kit purchase. This is not necessary or recommended. Not only do you wear yourself out; you wear your customers out too. Tired women do not order. Concentrate on building your stock NOT purchasing every item in the catalog. I suggest adding 1 item every couple of shows until you reach your comfort level.

Tip: Women will tend to purchase what you show! Strive to show higher-end items. For example: Jelly Tool Belt vs. Twitter, Buzz vs. Thumbs Up. It is not necessary to add items like T.O.M. or ROD right away…but do consider adding a mid to higher-end dual action vibrator such as B.O.B. to your demo if you did not purchase the Gold/Platinum kit!

The following is a suggested show kit. You should alternate items often.

Shadowing Parties

Shadowing the parties of other consultants is a wonderful training tool utilized by both new and experienced consultants alike. It’s a great way to pick up fresh ideas for running a successful party. Be sure to follow these guidelines for shadowing:

• Do connect with the consultant prior to the party and ask if she has specific guidelines

• Do participate in the party as “one of the girls”

• Do bring a smile, helpful attitude, and a bottle of water

• Do dress professionally

• Do not add additional comments while the consultant is doing her demonstration

• Do not hand out your information, business cards or catalogs

• Do not text message or make calls during the demonstration

• Do not drink alcohol or take smoke breaks

• Do not sit in a seat unless there are enough for the guests – floor space is fine!

Remember you are there to OBSERVE. It is very important to sit and observe how the other consultant does her parties. If you have questions about how and why she does something ask her after the party ends. It is inappropriate and disruptive when someone interrupts the consultant with their questions or interjects information. Some consultants are comfortable with a "shadow" coming into the shopping room after the presentation and some are not.  Be sure to ask the consultant you are shadowing her preference on this matter.

Trading Product

Though it is against corporate policy to purchase products from other consultants, trading is allowed and encouraged to fill backorders, achieve product variety, etc. It is good sense to trade with consultants you know and trust.

• Always trade product of equal retail value.

• Product should be current versions/packaging unless otherwise discussed.

• If you are the consultant in need of an item, it is YOUR responsibility to pick it up from the consultant if she lives locally. Do not ask her to drop it off for you or meet-up with you.

• If the product is being mailed to you, ALWAYS reimburse the consultant who is helping you out for shipping costs. The exception to this rule would be if you are each in need of items that the other has.

• If shipping a product directly to another consultant’s customer (at her request) include her return address on the package. Do not include your business card and don’t forget to remove your personal label from all items being shipped to other consultants customers.

• Make sure to discuss how and when the trade will be fulfilled

Trading is a wonderful tool – use it! Always fulfill trades promptly and earn a reputation as a great trader!

*It is permissible to purchase business supplies from other consultants such as catalogs, order forms, etc.

Receiving a Party Lead from a Sister Consultant

There are times when another consultant may need someone else to take a party for her or follow-up on a party lead. When you are offered this opportunity:

• Follow-up with the lead/hostess as soon as you can after receiving the lead (24 hours at the latest).

• Contact the consultant who gave you the party/lead to let her know you have connected with the hostess and the status of the party.

• Once a party has been given away – it’s yours! Any parties booked and/or recruit leads that come from it are yours as well. Unless discussed earlier by the consultant who gave you the party, always ask ahead of time if there is anything you need to know about the party before you go.

• It is courteous to thank the consultant who provided you with the lead, and let her know how the party went.

Receiving Party Leads from Janna

Occassionally, I receive party requests that I cannot cover from the corporate office as well as referrals from my own customers. My philosophy is that leads are a reward – not an entitlement! Consultants must demonstrate they are actively working their business and be regularly engaged in training opportunities (team meetings, corporate trainings etc) so I know I am connecting my leads with those who are at the top of their game and have a proven track record…after all, my own reputation is on the line ϑ

To be eligible to receive leads from me you must:

• Achieve $5,000 in retail sales (cumulative in your PR career – no time frame for this!)

• Regularly participate in team meetings where available

• Achieve a minimum of $600 retail the month prior to receiving a lead

First consideration for leads is given to consultants who:

• Are my PR “daughters” (I do pass leads to my 2-4th levels, but will generally offer to my 1st line first)

• Attended the last team meeting

• Achieved $1200 in retail sales the month prior to receiving the lead

How my leads are distributed: When I receive a party request for a date I cannot cover I will either

• Email the requested party date/location to consultants who have met my lead criteria and the first one to respond will get the lead. If no consultants who have been given “first consideration” respond within an hour of the initial email, I will open up the lead to others who have met my lead criteria.

Or

• Contact you directly with the lead opportunity to see if you are available (this is often done when location is a consideration or when a specific request has been made regarding a consultant’s inventory level, length in business, sexual health certification, etc.).

When you accept a lead from me, please:

• Contact the lead no later than 24 hours from the time it is given to you (earlier, if discussed)

• Update me on the status of the lead so I can cross it off my list and/or update corporate (i.e. contacted, party booked, etc.)

• Conduct the party – leads should not be passed to another consultant unless previously discussed with me.

Remember that party leads whether they come from the corporate office or another consultant are always a BONUS! Don’t depend on leads to make your business for you. They are simply “icing” ϑ

Incentive Eligibility

Periodically I offer contests and incentives to consultants in my 1-4th level downline who do not have a Senior Director above them. To be eligible to receive incentives, consultants who live within a 75 mile radius must attend team meetings following the month the incentive was earned. Consultants outside of a 75 mile radius will have products mailed to them. If you live within a 75 mile radius and unable to attend the All Star Team meeting, you are welcome and encouraged to attend a “makeup” meeting within the same month to receive earned incentives. It is your responsibility to let me know that you attended an alternate meeting.

Maximize your Profit Through Smart Ordering

In the beginning of your business, you may feel that you are paying shipping out the nose! However, if you are smart about ordering and combine orders as much as possible, you can recoup most or all of your shipping costs even while you are building your inventory.

We use a very modest $300 party average and $37.50 average customer order in the party scenarios above. While these numbers may be typical for a brand new consultant, as you become more skilled, your average customer order and average party sales should increase, too.

We also assume a total of 8 guests above. Hostess coach for more! A target of 10-15 guests at each party is what you want to shoot for. This will also increase your numbers.

The cost of shipping products to your customers will vary from about $1.50 to $5+ depending on the weight of the package. Always send orders that weigh under 13oz First Class Mail (not Priority) to reduce your shipping costs.
