Note that International Advanced Levels are not available for candidates studying in the UK.

1 Key dates

1.1 Entry deadlines and results

Please see the Key Dates section of this manual for the entry and results dates, and the certification and centre mark submission dates. The Key Dates section also includes details of when the entry submission facility on Edexcel Online is available.

1.2 Retention of certificates

It is not necessary to return uncollected certificates to us. They may be destroyed (in a confidential

manner) after retention for a period of no less than 12 months from the date of issue. Centres that do

not have a means of destroying certificates confidentially may return them to our Manchester office.

A record of certificates that have been destroyed should be retained for four years from their date of

destruction.

Centres must comply with any request from us to return a certificate. Certificates remain the property of the awarding bodies at all times.

2 Entry procedures

2.1 Private candidates Private candidates are candidates taking a qualification without being enrolled full time in a centre. They are responsible for their own entries, which must be made through an approved centre. Some qualifications are not available to private candidates. 4 International Advanced Level eligibility rules

It is not possible to use AS/A level units towards an International A Level (IAL) award. Only IAL units can be used to contribute to an International A Level award.

5 Resitting International Advanced Level units

Any unit can be resat by a candidate. The better of their two most recent non-absent attempts at an IAL unit will be available for aggregation to a qualification grade. The exception is the IAL Mathematics suite. Please see the document 'Aggregation Rules and Guidance', which can be found on the 'Teaching and learning materials' tab in the Course Materials section of qualifications.ial-maths-2018

6Unit, option and cash-in codes and availability

Included in this manual is an alphabetical list of subjects stating the availability by unit, option and cash-in code. Further information about all the IAL qualifications can also be found at qualifications.ial

Candidates intending to cash in their unit scores for a subject grade must enter the appropriate cash-in codes.

Units taken on previous occasions should not be entered unless the candidate wishes to enter for the unit again to improve their results.
