Chemoembolization Preparation Guide

• An appointment has been set for you to be ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL on ___________________.

• Please report to the ADMISSIONS OFFICE on the first floor, near the Emergency Room, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 12:00p.m. (noon).

• You will have the CHEMOEMBOLIZATION procedure the next day, on ____________________.

• You will have a CAT scan of the abdomen and pelvis and will receive IV fluid and medications the evening of the admission. This will prepare you for the Chemoembolization procedure the next day.

• Do NOT bring your medications with you; they will be provided by the hospital.

• You can expect to be discharged from the hospital 1 or 2 days after the procedure, depending on how quickly you recover.

• It is best if you have a driver to take you home from the hospital.

• You can expect to have “achy, flu-like symptoms” with possible low grade fever for several days after you go home.

• Detailed instructions will be given to you at the time of discharge from the hospital.
