Professional Development Program

Betsy Prosser is the Digital Media Library [DML] and Virtual Reference Collection [VRC] Trainer for ESBOCES School Library System since 2009. She was employed as a high school library media specialist for the Sachem District during her 34 year career. Prior to her retirement, she participated in the planning and opening of the Sachem East Library. A brief stint working on Saturdays at the reference desk of a public library allowed her to share her knowledge of databases and online searching with a whole new audience. Betsy was one of the first public school librarians in New York State trained as a DIALOG searcher; she gave presentations at statewide and local conferences introducing teachers and administrators to this sophisticated research tool. Her experience, knowledge about database searching, passion for reference and teaching, is now shared with teachers throughout Suffolk County.
