Colonel Robert J. Miceli assumed responsibility as the Chief of Staff, U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, AL, in September 2018. He is the principal assistant to the commanding general for synchronizing the efforts of the headquarters staff in support of a 6,300 person command.

COL Miceli was commissioned a second lieutenant in May 1992 through ROTC at Gonzaga University, Spokane, WA, where he earned a bachelor's degree in History, and was recognized as a Distinguished Military Graduate. Upon commissioning, he served as an Armor Officer with the 1st Armored Division, 2-67 Armor Battalion, from 1992-1996. Under the Army's Branch Detail Program, he was then assigned to the Adjutant General's Corps, where he commanded a multi-functional Personnel Detachment under the 1st Personnel Group, 22nd Personnel Services Battalion, at Fort Lewis, WA.

In 2000, he was selected to the Army Acquisition Corps with an initial concentration in Contingency Contracting Operations across the Pacific theater in support of Humanitarian Operations. In 2001, he deployed to Skopje, Macedonia and served as the Deputy Regional Allied Contracting Chief in support of NATO Operations. He was selected in the Training-With-Industry program with both DynCorp and Computer Sciences Corps, followed by Deputy Program Manager of the U.S. Army Small Business Innovation Research program, under Army Research Laboratories. He deployed to Iraq under the Defense Intelligence Agency and served as the Chief of Contracting for the Iraq Survey Group. Later, he was assigned to the National Reconnaissance Office from 2005-2008, where he executed Space Acquisitions, and served as Chief of Contracting for the Communications Directorate. He then volunteered to serve as the Chief of Acquisitions & Technology Directorate for the 401st Army Field Support Brigade in Afghanistan, and continued those duties, along with Brigade Executive Officer, at the 404th Army Field Support Brigade at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. COL Miceli was selected to command the 902nd Contingency Contracting Battalion from 2010 -2013. In 2012, he deployed the battalion in support of OEF, and served as the Regional Contracting Commander in support of Marine Expeditionary Forces in Southern Helmand Province, Afghanistan. In 2014, upon completion of resident Senior Service College, he joined the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Procurement and was assigned as the Director for Contingency Contracting Policy. Prior to becoming the ACC Chief of Staff, COL Miceli was the Brigade Commander for Defense Management Contract Agency ? Phoenix from 2015-2018.

COL Miceli graduated on the National Dean's List at Webster University with a Master's Degree in Management, and earned his Master's Certification for Program Management with Villanova University. His military schooling includes the Materiel Acquisition Management Course, the U.S Army Command and General Staff College, the U.S Air Force Space Fundamentals Course, Distinguished Graduate at National Defense University's Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy, and is Level III certified in both Contracting and Program Management.

ACC, a subordinate command of Army Materiel Command, is comprised of a subordinate one-star command, six major Contracting Centers and eight Contracting Support Brigades. ACC enables Army readiness through global, expeditionary contracting support to warfighters engaged in military operations, weapon systems acquisition, life cycle management, sustainment and acquisition of goods and services vital to the Soldier's mission and well-being. Its workforce includes more than 6,000 military and civilian personnel at more than 100 locations worldwide. ACC awarded and managed more than 154,000 contract actions valued at nearly $70 billion in fiscal year 2018.
