DECLARING MAY 6, 2019, AS CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS DAY IN THE CITY OF HYATTSVILLE.

This proclamation declares May 6, 2019, to be Children's Mental Health Awareness Day in the City of Hyattsville, in order to raise awareness of the importance of the mental health for the youth in our community. WHEREAS, families, educators, and communities must acknowledge and combat the host of mental health issues that impact teens, including depression, eating disorders, and substance abuse; and WHEREAS, this year's Mental Health Awareness Day focuses on the prevention of suicide, as well as strategies to save children's lives; and WHEREAS, the City is proud to regularly partner with local schools and organizations to raise awareness of children's mental health issues; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Council of the City of Hyattsville recognize May 6, 2019, as Children's Mental Health Awareness Day and thank the many professionals who work daily to ensure our young people and their families have access to the resources necessary to lead prosperous lives.
