Shoes, Tights, Briefs and Undergarments

PERFORMANCE PREPARATION PACKET- Nutcracker 2018Shoes, Tights, Briefs and UndergarmentsThe Dance Repertory Company provides you with your “main costume,” however you are responsible for undergarments, shoes, make-up, etc. If you have any questions, please contact us at mca@smumn.edu or at 507-453-5500.Due to our new account with Discount Dance Supply, you can order all of what you need from us! We can properly measure/fit you or your child and place one large Nutcracker order for everyone! However, we need you to fill out the General Nutcracker Order Google Form (link is included in the Friday, Oct. 12th Fill-In email and also out on the Nutcracker webpage portal) by Sunday, Nov. 4th.If a specific brand is listed by the item (for example: Dancing Fair, Capezio, Danskin, Bloch) you must purchase that exact brand so the color or shade matches the rest of the group. Dancing Fair brand can only be purchased through the MCA Dance Attire Boutique. Capezio, Danskin, and Bloch can be purchased through online catalogs like Discount Dance Supply or through MCA. It is suggested that female cast members that are required to wear tights purchase one extra pair in case of runs or stains. To avoid backorders, shipping charges and incorrect fittings, we highly suggest ordering through MCA and/or place your order for items not available at MCA this week! Remember it is Nutcracker season all over the world (not just in Winona) and many dancers are trying to order and find their needed dance attire items.RoleItem to purchaseMother Ginger Children (girls)High performance supplex footed tights #800 (Dancing Fair) children’s tights, color: pinkMother Ginger Children (girls)Relevé leather full sole ballet slippers #261 (Dancing Fair), color: pinkBakers and Lead BakerHigh performance supplex footed tights #810 (Dancing Fair), color: whiteBakers and Lead BakerRelevé leather full sole ballet slippers #261 (Dancing Fair), color: blackBakers and Lead BakerSkin colored/nude tank or camisole leotard for under costume #D5100C (Discount Dance Supply) Mother GingerLeggings or pants for under costume – any brandFemale Party Guests, Frau, Maid, NannyBlack Character shoes #128 (Discount Dance), or period-appropriate shoes (see Jess)Female Party Guests, Frau, Maid, NannyHigh performance supplex footed tights #810 (Dancing Fair), color: blackFemale Party Guests, Frau, Maid, NannyAny leotard/briefs/bra preferred to wear under dress – no bra or leotard straps can showMale Party Guests, Mayor, DrosselmeyerBlack oxford dress shoes (any you have at home, but no loafers)Male Party Guests, Mayor, DrosselmeyerBlack dress socks (any you have at home)Party Children (boys)Black split sole lace up jazz shoe #503 (Dancing Fair)Party Children (girls) & Clara’s FriendsSkin colored/nude camisole leotard (no plastic/clear straps) #D5100C (Discount Dance)Party Children (girls) & Clara’s FriendsConvertible microfiber tights #755 (Dancing Fair), color: pinkParty Children (girls), Clara’s Friends & ClaraBlack relevé leather full sole ballet slippers #261 (Dancing Fair)ClaraBallet Pink Body Wrappers Adult Total Stretch Mesh Seam Convertible Tights #A45 (DiscountDance Supply) (2 pair)ClaraPale/Pastel Pink or Nude camisole leotard (noplastic/clear straps) #D5100C (Discount Dance Supply.)Ballerina DollWhite tights #810 (Dancing Fair) Ballerina DollPointe shoes of preference to be dyed/colored -- see Jess Dienger (2 pairs)Ballerina Doll? Some of the colors and techniques may be very different from what you would normally wear. We are following basic and standard theatrical make-up application for the performance. Once the face is made up the make-up will appear to be very heavy and bright under normal lighting and at a close distance. This is good. It will not look the same on stage under the bright lights from the audience seating. If the make-up is not applied properly, too light and with the wrong colors, the face will fade with no definition of features and colors can change hue under the lights. So please follow the make-up guidelines as close as possible. If you want a little more detailed explanation, Jess will be holding a Makeup and Hair Tutorial on Saturday, November 10th from 4:15p-5:15p at the Page Theatre. If you are interested, please sign up at: (a link will be provided in the Fill In, as well)Please note: Some of the listed brands or color options for lipstick and eye shadow are now discontinued however we know many of you have these items still in your make-up kits from previous performances with the Dance Repertory Company. Make-up should be worn for pictures and rehearsals starting Sunday, November 25th through the run of the shows. Please send the required make-up items for your child in a zip lock bag/tackle box with their name on it for needed touch ups. All performers must have their own zip lock bag/tackle box of make-up. Please no sharing for health reasons.Make-up application for Waltz of the Flowers, Dew Drop Fairies, Spanish (Nadia), Arabian, Chinese, Marzipan, Sugar Plum Fairy and Russian:First apply your foundation making sure all edges of the face are smooth with no lines. Apply fake eyelashes (if required for your role) with small ribbon of glue. Next, highlight above the eyebrows under the eyes and around the lips. Third, contour/shade the nose and chin with a light brown shadow or cream. Fourth, apply blush under the cheekbone; do not put blush too close the nose - stop at the middle of the eye. Apply white or light shadow under the brow and dark brown shadow on the lid of the eye and all the way to the bone. Line the eyelids next to the lashes with black eyeliner extending the eyeliner to theatrical lines slightly past the eyes. Apply black mascara at least five coats on upper and lower lashes. Darken the brows with brushing strokes; do not color them in solid. Apply powder to face to set. Put on lipstick. Follow natural lip line unless you have very thin lips. If your lips are very thin you should make the lipstick a little fuller. See diagram of the face where to apply make-up.Snow Corps and Snow Queen --See Tammy with any questions about specific snow scene make-up application.Hair GuidelinesBallerina Doll, Harlequin Doll, Snowflakes Corps, Snow Queen, Waltz of the Flowers, Dew Drop Fairies, Spanish, Arabian, Chinese, Marzipan, Sugar Plum Fairy, All Angels, Russian: A Classical bun.
