No Bake Cookies



Mastery Objective: Students will recognize abbreviations, use correct measuring tools, divide a recipe in half and use proper sanitation methods.

Best Ever Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Divide Recipe in Half

_______¾ c. unsalted butter _______1 tsp. baking soda

_______¼ c. granulated sugar _______2 tsp. vanilla

_______3/4 c. brown sugar _______2 c. flour

_______1 egg _______2 tsp. corn starch

_______1/2 tsp. salt _______1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips

1. Preheat the oven to 375(.

2. In a medium sized mixing bowl, cream together the butter, sugar and brown sugar until smooth with an electric mixer.

2. Beat in egg, one at a time, until well combined.

3. Beat in salt, baking soda, corn starch and vanilla.

4. Gradually beat in flour, 1/2 c. at a time, until all of the flour is mixed in. Be gentle with the mixer, and always make sure the bowl and beaters are locked in before turning the mixer on. As the dough gets stiff, be sure to turn up the speed. CHECK OFF YOUR COOKIE DOUGH WITH YOUR TEACHER BEFORE MOVING ON.

5. With a wooden spoon, stir in chocolate chips.

6. Using very clean hands, form round balls of cookie dough. Place the dough balls onto a greased cookie sheet, evenly spaced.

7. Bake at 375( for 8 to 10 minutes.

8. After they are done baking, let the cookies cool on the pan for 1 minute. Then, with a turner, move the cookies onto a cooling rack. Let the cookies cool for about 5 minutes, then enjoy eating them!
