Sun., Apr. 30th: Martin Luther King Choir Concert 4:00 p.m. at Boulder Oaks Elementary School, 2320 Tavern Rd, Alpine, CA 91901 Tickets: $10. Buy tickets at church or call Sylvia at 619-571-6191. Since 1997 the MLK Choir has been performing gospel concerts to raise funds for educational grants to give to SD County high school seniors pursuing a college degree in visual or performing arts. Their music is inspirational and uplifting, and celebrates the history of the negro spiritual. Please consider donating a Raffle Basket for the event. Those who do so will receive a free concert ticket. Sign up at church.

Sat., May 13th: Field Trip & Potluck at Charlene Penner's "Cistern Chapel" in Ramona On site 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Meet at ACSL NLT 8:45 a.m. to car pool (recommended due to limited parking), or 9:30 a.m. at 17126 Mt. Woodson Rd., Ramona, CA 92065 (call Jody at 473-2045 for specific directions and parking instructions if you are driving separately.) Suggested Love Offering $10 Please sign up at church. Family & friends are welcome, but only about 40 people fit in the Chapel. About 13 lean-back chairs and a bunch of cushions are available to sit on the floor of the chapel; if you need to sit in a regular chair you need to bring a carpet to protect the clay floor. Charlene's kitchen, living room and outdoor area's with ample seating are available for our pot luck. We might bring some extra chairs if needed. Charlene built this smooth, circular, metal structure on her property to replicate a transforming experience she had in a water reservoir tank. The interior is acoustically alive, enhancing and sustaining any sound, its favorite being the human voice. Sound Therapist, Elizabeth Allen will be bringing her healing tuning forks to experiment with them in the Chapel. Charlene has some crystal singing bowls. You may bring your own instruments as well, though drums and anything loud is not recommended. Tuesday's, Starting TBD: New 8 Week Session of Qigong 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. @ ACSL $56 for the 8 week session, or $10/class Qigong (chee gung), is a gentle exercise and moving meditation similar to T'ai Chi. It uses flowing, easily learned movements and breathing to improve the health & harmony of body, mind & spirit. Anyone, of any age or physical condition can participate!
