Overview:

Scholars in Service to Pennsylvania is an initiative at Elizabethtown College that recognizes, trains, and supports students who are civically engaged. Selected students will pledge to complete 300 (minimum time) hours of service in one calendar year. In exchange for that commitment, Scholars will receive leadership and organizational training, support from the Center for Community and Civic Engagement staff and fellow Scholars, and participate in ongoing supervision and reflection activities.

Each Scholar will be expected to work in a community organization and the Center for Community and Civic Engagement for a total of 5-10 hours per week and attend a monthly meeting of supervision/reflection sessions with the entire group of Scholars. In addition, Scholars will collaborate on group service and activism projects and programming for the rest of campus.

“Scholars in Service to Pennsylvania” is an AmeriCorps Education Award Only program. Participating students will enroll as AmeriCorps members on a part-time basis. Students, who enroll in this program in August of 2013 and successfully complete 300 of service by August of 2014, will receive an AmeriCorps Education Award in the amount of $1175.00.
