Weekend retreats

Jesus, the Only Begotten Son of God, Advent retreat, December 17-19, 2010

The mystery of Incarnation changes our lives and invites us to open our hearts to the one who became flesh and lives among us. This Advent retreat is a possibility to say with your whole being, “Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus!” to the revealer and the revelation of God (Jn 1:14-18). Program is led by Ligita Ryliskyte SJE and Judita Stankunaite SJE.

All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life. (Jn 1:1)

Between Martha and Mary, retreat for women, January 14-16, 2011

Are you so busy with working for God’s Kingdom that there is no time for God himself? Do you like praying but rarely risk start living what you prayed about? Is it really only one choice: Martha or Mary? If you are wondering about it and want to look closer at those two women so dear to Jesus, come and stay for a weekend retreat! Program is led by Jolita Emanuele Dudaite SJE.

[She] has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her (Lk 10:42).

Does God Truly Love Me Also? Retreat for women, February 25-27, 2011

God has given our lives the purpose and the meaning which is found in our experiences like a red thread. Sometimes it is as thin as a hair almost to the point of disappearing; sometimes it’s strong and clearly visible. This red thread leads us to recognize the shadow of God’s hand outstretched to give us a gentle stroke in the most painful experiences. If you are looking for God’s healing touch, come and bring your burdens to Jesus in this retreat. We’ll pray, share and…weave together. Program is led by Jolita Emanuele Dudaite SJE.

…by his bruises we are healed. (Is 53:5)

Stay With Us! Lenten retreat for families, March 18-20, 2011

The Eucharist is the source and the summit of Christian life. In the Eucharist we celebrate the Paschal mystery which might be seen as the source and summit of Christian spirituality. In this retreat like the disciples going to Emaus (Lk 24) we‘ll be invited to become more aware of how Jesus is present in our life journey and to trust that He wants to set our hearts on fire again, to be recognized in the breaking of bread and table fellowship. The Paschal mystery is meant for us too – it is present in our lives blessed and broken, and given to others. In Jesus, with Jesus and through Him the abundance of life is sprouting up in every instance of life selflessly given. Program is led by Linda Ceple SJE and Judita Stankunaite SJE.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with me. (Rev 3:20)

Unless a Grain of Wheat Falls into the Ground… Lenten retreat, April 15-17, 2011

God‘s self-gift in Jesus’ self-emptying sacrifice changed our human history forever. On the cross Jesus reveals God as the ultimate love, agape. Created in the likeness of the Triune God who is Lover-Love-Beloved, we are also relational. We become our truest selves and fulfill our humanity when we give ourselves to the Other. Come to this Lenten retreat to notice, to accept, to acknowledge, and to celebrate God’s abundant self-gift. Program is led by Ligita Ryliskyte SJE and Judita Stankunaite SJE.

And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. (Jn 12:23-24)

Spiritual renewal weekends

If You Let Love Completely Conquer You… Weekend with the women mystics, October 1-3, 2010

This weekend we’ll listen to the voices of the visionary women reaching us through the veil of ages and oblivion. We’ll prayerfully approach their stories, writings, music and art. Through celebration of their wisdom, commitment, courage, trust and faithfulness, in praying and sharing we’ll be invited to come closer to Jesus, the Wisdom of God incarnated. Program is led by Ligita Ryliskyte SJE and Judita Stankunaite SJE.

If you let Love completely conquer you,/ You will completely conquer Love./ I hope this will be your experience. (Hadewijch, Flanders, c.1250)

Praying with One’s Whole Self, weekend of sacred and liturgical dance, November 12-14, 2010

The mystery of Incarnation heals the split between heaven and earth and reunites human nature with the divine. In the person of Jesus we can rediscover the intrinsic unity of the soul and body. However, often we still don’t dare to pray with our whole being, feel ashamed of or even reject our bodilleness. This weekend we’ll listen to the wisdom of our bodies and praise God through movement and sacred dance. Everyone is welcome! Program is led by sacred dance teacher and movement therapist Diana Cermane OP, assisted by Linda Ceple SJE.

My work/my thoughts/and words./That was worship/in my body. (Lalleshwari, XIV c.)

Eight day retreats

Directed Ignatian retreats

May 13-21, 2011

July 1-8, 2011

August 13-20, 2011

It is a special time set apart from daily life in order to renew our relationship with God and with everything in him. The main “pillars” of such a retreat are prayer, daily meeting for spiritual direction, celebration of the Eucharist and short daily teaching related to the dynamics of the retreat. The fruits of such spiritual exercises often are greater awareness of God’s activity in one’s life, a discerning heart and greater freedom to respond to God’s calling.

He said to them, "Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while. (Mk 6:31)

Ignatian retreat with photography

July 11-16, 2011

In this retreat we’ll focus on finding God in all things through the art of photography. The participants will be invited to experience how God might be speaking to us through ordinary things if we look at them carefully. The lens of the camera will help us to focus our sight on the inner movements of the heart and to go with God’s Spirit. Desire for a deeper relationship with God and not training in photography is the prerequisite for this retreat. Everyone interested in praying this way is welcome. Program will be led by Fr.Janez Sever SJ (Novosibirsk) in Russian or English.

And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit. (2 Cor 3:18)

Workshops

Conflicts and Communication Styles, a workshop on team work for pastoral ministers, September 6-7, 2010

Ideally we cooperate constructively in teams. However, reality often is different. We disagree, have different interests and get disappointed in each other. And sometimes conflicts arise and power games develop. And yet we need each other to come to a decision. How to deal with this? In this workshop we learn some rules of thumb of principled negotiation, like thinking in interests instead of positions/solutions; how to separate the people from the problem; how to be hard on the issue (the content) and soft on the relationship. We also learn about different communication styles, how to recognize the diverse styles and how to adjust our own style to the style of our interlocutor. Finally, we address those situations where, although we know how we should act, our emotions have the better of us and we mess up. The workshop is led by a pastoral psychologist, coach and trainer Dr.Anke Bisschops (The Netherlands).

Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. (Rom 12:9-10,18)

My God, My God, Why Have You Forsaken Me? A workshop on the problem of suffering in the Bible and theology for professional care givers, April 1-3, 2011

The cry of Jesus from the cross (Mt 27:46; Mk 15:34) echoes the words of Psalm 22:1 and resonates in our experience of suffering. All Christians and especially professional care givers come to the moment when living out their faith means facing the mystery of suffering. These or similar questions often arise: What does my faith tradition tell of suffering? What does the Bible speak of it? How are the omnipotence, the justice of God and the presence of innocent suffering in the world compatible? Many of us respond by creating our own practical “theologies” about it, and yet we long to know a more comprehensive approach rooted in the Revelation. In the workshop we’ll explore some answers Bible and theology can give us and will learn how to apply these insights practically in the care giving relationship. The workshop is led by Ligita Ryliskyte SJE.

O Lord, why do you reject my soul? Why do you hide your face from me? (Ps 88:14)
