It was a great success! We thank everyone who participated in the presentation, as well as thank all the parents for being present to watch the performances. Wesley started off our presentation by singing an amazing cover of a classic Christmas song, “Jingle Bell Rock”. We then had our lovely Grade 9’s story tell a far more “Carson” version of T’was the Night Before Christmas, to which they compared our beloved Carson to the big man in red himself. We also had some Grade 11’s and 12’s present their very comical Jib Jab movies casting themselves as elves and the murder of a tree. Then to our delight we watched as the grade 12’s Bio Chemistry class sung about the things they had learned at Blyth. Around midway we had a sketch acted out by our grade 10’s, who still haven’t figured out how to make proper cookie dough. As a grand finale we watched as our Grade 8’s performed a Christmas Countdown play, to which we watched Adam skip, Elves make toys, Carson and Will doing last minute Christmas shopping, and Grandma Cole #tweeting about her Christmas dinner. Overall, the play was a great representation of the talent and enthusiasm in the school and we hope that everyone will bring their talents again next year.00This year marks the second annual Blyth Academy Christmas Pageant, and with many great acts in the lineup. Taking part in a country’s national sport is a pride, however, knowing and learning different sports at school is a self-advantage.Firstly, learning different types of sports brings out your self-confidence and allows your self-confidence and allows you to be prepared whenever you are asked to play a certain type of sport.Learning different types of sports also helps you develop time management skills as different sports have different timings. Just like when you play soccer, you aim to score a maximum number of goals in the 90 minutes of given time and when you are writing an English exam you expect to get your lengthy essay written in an hour and a half or getting your math problems solved in two hours with correct formulas.School sports build a strong sense of focus and concentration academically. Getting involved in games and physical education activities increases positive thoughts and a faster thinking brain. Sports mottos like, “We are the Best!” can encourage students in learning activities as well.As a child or student, participating in programs or sports activities gives you recognition in school, society, or the community. Sports also create an active and social environment. If you are a sports person, people will love knowing your likes and dislikes to get inspired and make a change for themselves.submitted by Neelam 00Being fond of playing sports, whether indoor or outdoor, is an advantage for students in all schools. We have also travelled to Bowling Green University in Ohio to tour their school and university program, and will be heading to Quebec City in the New Year.Right now we are fundraising for our big trip to Europe during the March Break. We will be travelling to Prague Czech Republic and Berlin Germany. We will be touring these cities by bus, and visiting many historical sites, some that we have learned about in history class, like the war memorial in Berlin, Hitler’s bunker, the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp. We will also be playing hockey games against German and Czech Republic teams. The Blyth Bruins Prep Hockey Program has had a lot of success since the program started in 2012, with many players making the OHL and OJHL, and some getting NCAA scholarships to play hockey to go to university in the United States.
