JP gave apologies for AH, MH, JK & GKJP confirmed that MH would no longer be attending future meetings following a change in her circumstances Notes from previous meeting & costings for new ideasTown Bite Stall JP confirmed that he had been in contact with Visit RCT team however the Council had not yet confirmed their plans for 2019 and costs for stall not currently available Your Pontypridd Pop Up Stall 2.2.1 JP thanked CE for sending over costs for ‘Pop Up Stall’ and additional features. Group agreed that item would be useful to purchase when the new budget is determined2.3 Your Pontypridd Lamppost Banners2.3.1 JP presented costs for lamppost banners from Flagship Signs, costs did not include installation only materials. 2.3.2 GP suggested to contact Centre Great who work with RCT Council to install lamppost banners. Your Pontypridd MerchandiseJP presented costings for merchandise ideas suggested in previous meeting including pens, tote bags, mugs and bottlesJP suggested to purchase 500 tote bags which could be used in a ‘Reusable Bag’ scheme in shops to help reduce use of plastic bags. Following a discussion, the group approved this idea and agreed that it would give the BID good PR. Heritage Map for PontypriddJP confirmed that he had not chance to speak with Town Council to discuss the idea. GP confirmed there is interest from the Town Council in the idea. Small Business Trade ShowJP presented costings based on hiring the Muni Arts Centre for a trade show but explained that the group would need to wait to confirm idea following uncertainty over Muni Arts CentreVP explained that GeekedFest would likely have to be moved to another venue and explained that she would suggest the Town Council & Museum explore the possibility of having GeekedFest RJ explained that the Muni should be re-opening back up in a few months after expressions of interest were being considered by the Council. GP suggested that the Trade Show would be an ideal opportunity to help the relaunch of the Muni and recommended the group continue to monitor the situation at the venue. Digital TotemsJP explained that digital totems with Emerge Advertising have no cost as they are funded through advertising. However, the BID would incur costs of installation and electric. GP suggested the totems would be a nice feature to have in town centre to compliment the digital advertising screen recently installed by the BID. RJ suggested there may be a conflict of interest as the BID and Emerge Advertising would be competing to sell advertising in the town centre. The group agreed that RJ’s point was valid and decided to revisit concept after the screen was running successfully. Santa on a BusJP presented costs from Stagecoach Wales including wrap of bus for ‘Santa on a Bus’ event JP & VP both gave feedback on the ‘Selfies with Santa’ activities which were carried out before Christmas and recommended that the BID stay with the idea in the future based on the positive feedback from businesses and that the concept was a better use of money and time. The group voted in favour of keeping the ‘Selfies with Santa’ format for future Christmas activities. JP to follow up with Visit RCT to confirm cost of stall at Big Welsh Bite event JP to contact RCT Council to see if there would need to be a Planning Application submitted.Projects UpdateLINK Fest 2018 JP presented comments and feedback from each of the individual venues involved in LINK Fest. Group asked if there is any data relating to sales increases or data relating to footfall in the venues. AC referred group to comments regarding Platform 11 who reported they were not any busier than a normal event. GP referred group to Page 13 of the agenda and expressed concern over the expenditure and time spent organising the event. GP suggested the BID create a proposal or brief that could be advertised on the website to interested parties who would like to take the ‘LINK Fest’ concept forward. GP also suggested that the committee could help with the marketing elements of the festival. CE suggested having a similar event to what the DEPOT organise in Cardiff Castle and utilise the space in the park. Following a discussion and a review of the feedback the group agreed to the approach moving forward suggested by GP and asked JP to create a brief by the next meeting. Christmas Activities 2018Christmas Window Competition JP reported a very successful Christmas Window Competition confirming the competition had reached over 20,000 people across all social media platforms. JP confirmed that the ‘Christmas Window’ page on the website is now ranked sixth all time most viewed page.Christmas Prize Draw/New Years Competition JP reported entries for the Christmas Prize Draw competition were down compared to 2017, one of the participating stores had suggested to return to the ‘ticket’ format following feedback from their customers. JP confirmed that the BID had received excellent feedback so far on the ‘New Years’ competition giving two people a chance to win experiences in Pontypridd. Selfies with Santa 3.2.3 JP confirmed BID had carried out ‘Selfies with Santa’ events in four businesses in Pontypridd. JP reported very positive feedback from the businesses and from GTFM who were involved in event. JP to report back on New Years Competition at next meetingStudent Lock In/Savings Event4.0.1 JP presented idea of potential collaboration with Stagecoach Wales on an event aimed at bringing the students into the town following the conclusion of the Freshers Fayre in Treforest. 4.0.2 The group suggested that JP and VP meet with the Students Union in Treforest to discuss the idea.
