Chairman’s Message

Edwalton, Gamston & District U3A started in September 2014 (September 2014). Since then some of our committee have been in the same post for the maximum 3 years. With change comes a fresh approach and avoidance of getting complacent and/or entrenched. (I’m all for the Jenny Joseph approach of wearing purple). Not only is it time to get new faces on the committee but it is also in the constitution that the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Membership Secretary and Treasurer change regularly.

So, are you willing to take an active part in your U3A? The ethos of the U3A is self-help. Please have a think between now and the AGM. To continue our existence, we need members to come forward. We will give lots of support and help. Talk to one of the committee, at the meeting or contact us (details on page 6).

Our next meeting of Edwalton, Gamston & District U3A is on Thursday 8th February at the Gamston Community Hall (NG2 6PS) from 2 to 4 p.m.

For more information on the club programme our website is or email chrisshaw20038@

There was a general agreement that some photos are enhanced by some basic editing such as cropping and levelling and it was suggested that those with the skill could do some tutorials for a couple of members at a time. If you would like to do this please let me know so that it can be arranged. Paul and myself might be the tutors. An also suggest that you can buy quite cheaply, at places like Hobbycraft, card or fibreboard sheets that can act as neutral backdrops for some shots.

We set a programme of topics for the next few months as set out below.
