What you think or know of God determines what kind of God you serve. Are you a “little god-der” or are you a “BIG GOD-DER?” If you are of the former mindset, then you tend to limit God, his sovereignty and his power. You DOUBT that He can do what He says He will do. If you are of the latter mindset, then you truly believe that “nothing is impossible with God.” Paul, writing in Ephesians 3:20, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” We have certainly been through some tough times in this past year: pandemic, businesses shutting down, quarantining, mask wearing, social distancing, governmental discord, and then on top of all that, the worst cold spell with snow/ice in the last several decades. It’s almost enough to want to give up!!! BUT, we are commanded to put our trust in God, believing that He is still on His throne and still in control. Never forget; we serve a BIG God who is able to do anything that He desires, and that he loves His people, and will always do what is best for them. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.” Even in the midst of all the mess that has gone on this past year, there has been good that has come out of it. I truly believe that we have become more compassionate, more caring, and more willing to help others in their time of need. God is bringing people together in ways that we have never seen before... I have seen and witnessed people helping people with meals, neighbors helping one another fix broken water lines, friends contacting and checking on one another, delivering water and other needed supplies to one another. Maybe we are finally getting it; “?And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” Sometimes it takes adverse conditions to spur us to action, and maybe we can now REALLY start living the Great Commandment. Let me remind all of our churches that we are starting our Pastor Mentoring Program this coming Saturday, February 27, from 9 am until around 2 pm. Snacks and lunch will be provided. I ask that you encourage your pastor to attend this vitally important program. We will be discussing the vision, mission and the purpose of the program which includes; needing a mentor and becoming a mentor; communicating your vision and dreams to the church; the power of goals; strategic planning for the church; getting things done for the plan and developing, planning and planting a significant personal ministry. This program can help better equip your pastor to become a more effective, more efficient, and a better pastor tomorrow than he is today. It will also give churches an idea on how to implement a strategic plan that sets priorities for the church in the upcoming year/years, and how to develop and implement that plan. As the old saying goes, “Failing to plan is planning to fail.” Does your church have a vision, a mission, a plan to more effectively reach the hurting and dying world around you? Does your church have a dynamic outreach to the community? Does your church want to be thriving and growing? If so, you and your pastor can certainly benefit from this program. The address is 18924 Cherokee Ridge, Paint Rock, Texas, but it actually located on the Concho River arm of Lake Ivie at a 3 story house, overlooking the Concho. I have sent out directions, but if anyone needs directions, please feel free to call or text me.Be in prayer for those in your community. Check on the elderly. Reach out to your neighbors. Be ready to help anyone in need. Become the hands and feet of Jesus as you serve your local community. Until next time, God bless each church and each member within that church. ................
