Driver Meeting

Welcome to the MORPCA Mid-Ohio driver’s education event. Our goal is for you to have three safe and enjoyable days with us at the track. Because of the current Covid-19 issues, we have some new policies and procedures in place so please read this carefully so you understand your responsibility and ours over the weekend.

Please download your required forms, two Covid waivers, tech form, written driver meeting, and schedule. (see welcome email links)

Covid-19 new procedures

Upon entry to the track everyone must present the Mid-Ohio “medical health assessment form” filled out and signed (see welcome email links). We ask that you fill out the form prior to your arrival. Mid-Ohio will not have copies at the gate. There will be limited supply at registration.

You must also e-sign the PCA Covid waiver on line or download and sign a form in color. (see welcome email links). If you have signed this form in the past you are permitted to take a picture and have it on your smart phone.

All participants must wear a mask anytime you enter a garage or structure, if you are interacting with PCA staff, and at anytime where social distancing is not possible. Currently Social distancing is defined as keeping a distance of 6 feet apart and no groups greater than 10 people.

MORPCA DE RULES

Just two words should define your three days with us. SAFETY and FUN. We want you to have as much fun as you can have safely and within the limits. In order to accomplish that we have some rules that must be followed:

1) Meetings: Instructed Students must attend all meetings:

2) Clothing: Long pants and long sleeve shirt, (natural fiber, not synthetics, cotton is recommended). Footwear must be enclosed, non-slip, with a relatively smooth sole.

3) Car Occupancy: solo only

4) Non-Participants: One adult (over age 18) Non-participant will be permitted admittance as “crew” due to Covid. That crew must show up and register at the same time as the driver.

5) Open Top Cars: All open top cars (including Targa’s) must run with tops installed or up, unless each occupant uses arm restraints. Open top cars must pass the broomstick test. All sunroofs must be closed or entirely removed while on the track. (arm restraints required if sunroof is removed).

6) Windows: Driver’s side window must be fully down (rain or shine), passenger side optional (fully up or down). Window nets are not allowed.

7) Speed Limits: Speed limit in the pit, Staging area and paddock is 5mph.

8) Parking in front of a garage is reserved for garage renters.

9) Passing zones: Yellow and Blue; Front straight, between turn 1 and turn 2; Back straight, and Thunder valley. Red, White and Red; extended passing with a point.

10) Passing Signals and Procedures:

a) Yellow and Blue; All passing in the designated areas will be with the use of hand signals. The car being overtaken should stay on line. Use a separate pass signal for each car behind that you intend to allow to pass.

b) Red, White and Orange; The overtaken car should stay on line, however giving a pass going into the corner should try to point the overtaking car to the apex and then fall in line.

11) Four Wheels Off: There is a mandatory Black Flag Pit stop for four wheels off, spin, and/or contact. The Driver must come into Black flag. Do not wait to be black flagged, but enter the pits as soon as it is available on your lap. Three black flags are grounds for expulsion from the event.

12) Three Spin Rule: We really don’t want to send you home. However, if you are endangering yourself, others and disrupting the flow of the event by causing additional clean up and dirtying up the line, you will be asked to leave.

13) Trains: It is not acceptable for a slower car not to permit a pass. Our expectations are safety, courtesy and the right attitude. If you have a car in your mirror, he is faster than you and you should signal a pass.

14) Track Damage: Mid-Ohio will charge fees for the track and equipment damage. This includes use of oil dry, damage to a tow rope, guard rails or use of a fire extinguisher.

If MORPCA is billed for track damage and in the opinion of the Event Chair, you were responsible, you will be billed. We regret having to pass along damage fees but this is standard practice at similar tracks.

Course configuration

Friday we will run the club course. Saturday pro course, and Sunday to be announced.

Concessions will be open for lunch from 10am to approximately 2pm.

No Alcohol can be consumed by any participant during the hours of the event operation, or by any person at the site of the event during the hours of event operation.
