Instructions for Registering and Using the CITI Online Animal Welfare Training
1. Go to to access the training.
2. Click Register Here to set up a new account. If you have previously registered for a CITI account, you can log in from this page and skip to step 11 in these instructions.

3. Select Eastern Kentucky University from the list of participating institutions. The other three drop-down lists in this step are not applicable.

4. Select a username and password. The username may be between 4 and 50 characters and may include letters, numbers, and the symbols [ @ ], [ . ], and [ _ ]. The username is not case sensitive. The password may be between 8 and 12 letters and may include only letters and numbers. The password is not case sensitive.

5. Enter your first and last name. These fields are the basis for the name provided on the completion report you will receive upon completion of course modules.

6. Enter your email address. Only one email address is required, but you may enter a secondary email address if desired.
7. Click Submit.
8. Provide the personal information requested. The required fields are marked with an asterisk (*). The Laboratory Animal Welfare course is required for all investigators and personnel (including students) working with animals.
9. Choose the course modules in which you want to enroll based on the type of activities in which you will be involved.

10. Select the Species Specific modules that apply to the activities in which you will be involved. After you have selected all modules to be completed, click Submit.

11. You are now ready to begin the course. Select the course from the list under My Courses.

12. You must first complete the Integrity Assurance Statement. After completing the Integrity Assurance Statement, the links to the course modules will become active. Click on individual module titles to begin.

13. Each module consists of reading materials followed by a quiz. Once you have read the reading material, click on the link to take the quiz. From the next screen, select the link to generate the quiz. After the quiz has been generated, you cannot return to the reading materials.

14. Quizzes should be taken only once, and a pass rate of 75% is required for each module. Scores of less than 75% on individual modules are acceptable as long as the average score for the module is at least 75%.
15. After completing each quiz, you will immediately see your score and feedback for each question answered incorrectly in the quiz. From the feedback page, you may return to the Course Gradebook to begin the next section.

16. Once all modules have been completed with a combined average pass rate of at least 75%, you will be able to access the Completion Report from the Main Menu. You can return to the Main Menu at any time by clicking the Main Menu link in the top right menu of each page. [pic]
