DO NOT try to launch remote access from the software directly, and DO NOT try to add your account/email address to the softwareOnce you have the Citrix receiver installed, you can now access the remote desktop.To do this you go to:-Go to the QMU website the top right corner of the page, select ‘Remote Access’Scroll down the page and select the highlighted link as shown belowIn the following screen enter your QMU credentialsNote: just your student username, NOT the full email addressOnce through to the next page, select the small screen with ‘QM Desktop’ above it and then select ‘open’ on the bar at the bottom of the screen This will launch the citrix receiver and take you to a remote sessionPossible ErrorsOn windows devices there can be an extra issue with the Ica file. To resolve this please follow the below steps:-Select start and go to settingsSelect the apps icon and go to default apps tabScroll to the bottom and select ‘choose default applications by file type’Scroll down to ‘.ica’ file extensionChange the default to ‘Citrix Connection manager’NB: - If no option for Citrix connection manager is available, make sure you have the latest version Citrix receiver installed.Alternative method for mapping Citrix connections manager-If there is no option within Settings>apps>default apps>choose default applications by file type> .ica to select the citrix connection manager, there is another method to mapping it.-return to the remote access page on the QMU website-log in to the remote access page-select the small screen with ‘QM Desktop’ on it-when it gives you the bar to choose what to do with this file, select ‘save’-open the file explorer-go to the downloads folder-Locate the file ‘launch.ica’-right click and select ‘open with’-make sure the box with ‘Always use this to open .ica files’ is ticked before selecting an option-click ‘more apps’-scroll down to ‘look for another app on this PC’ and select that-select ‘this PC’ and go into the main hard drive-Follow the file path ‘program files (x86)>citrix>ICA client-scroll down and find the file ‘wfcrun32.exe’ and select this and click open Apple MAC Computers To set up your device to be able to remote access onto your QMU account you will need to install the application ‘Citrix Receiver’ This can be done by:-Go to on the latest version of receiver for Mac.right186690On the next page, select ‘download receiver for Mac’6096001587500After downloading the CitrixReceiver.dmg, launch the setup program and choose Install Citrix Receiver.center9207500You will be taken through a series of steps standard with the installation of any typical application on a Mac OS X. To resolve this please follow the below steps;1. Open the Settings menu and go to System > Default apps.2. Select "Choose default apps by file type". Find the file type .ICA, click the current default app, and choose Citrix receiver as the new default.3. Save any settings and close. The next time you try and run remote access the ICA will be opened correctly and allow access. ................
