T he Alexandria Transit Company's DASH system provides safe and reliable bus service within the City of Alexandria and connects with Metrobus, Metrorail, Virginia Railway Express (VRE), the Fairfax Connector, and the free King Street Trolley. DASH serves all of the Alexandria Metrorail stations, as well as the Pentagon Metrorail station during morning and evening peak periods. For your convenience, all DASH buses and King Street Trolleys are equipped with bicycle racks for passengers to use at no cost.

Metrobus Senior and Disabled 7-Day passes, Metro Access, and DOT Passes are also accepted.

Accessible Service

DASH buses and trolleys are wheelchair accessible. The City of Alexandria also sponsors the DOT Paratransit Program, a curb-to-curb service for persons with disabilities. For information, call (703) 746-4079.

Lost and Found

Items found aboard DASH buses and the King Street Trolley will be held in the Lost and Found for 30 days. Please call (703) 746-DASH for assistance.

$45 DASH Pass = Unlimited Monthly Rides

For added savings and convenience, the monthly DASH Pass is available on your SmarTrip? Card or purchase a paper DASH Pass at select locations.

The DASH Pass is accepted for unlimited rides on all DASH buses. Passes are valid for a full calendar month starting on the first day of the month and ending on the last day of that month.

The electronic DASH Pass is available at most CVS and Giant locations within the City of Alexandria, as well as the Arlington Commuter Stores and Fairfax Connector Stores. For a list of participating locations, visit:

Free 4-Hour Transfer on SmarTrip?

DASH offers a free 4-hour transfer when you pay your fare with a SmarTrip? Card, which is automatically added to your card. DASH transfers are good for up to four hours on all DASH routes, in any direction, including a return trip on the same route.

DASH transfers are honored on Metrobus and participating local bus systems for up to two hours. Additional charges may apply when transferring to services priced higher than DASH.

Inclement Weather

During weather emergencies, DASH may modify its routes and/or schedules to ensure passenger safety. For service information and alerts, please visit or call (703) 746-DASH.

FINDING YOUR BUS

All DASH buses display a headsign showing the route number and destination. The headsign is on the front of the bus just above the windshield. The same information is also displayed on the curb side of the bus.

Reading the Schedule

This guide contains the DASH system map, individual route maps, and timetables for all DASH routes and the King Street Trolley. The times listed for each trip are the scheduled departure times for those stops. The last time point for each trip is the scheduled arrival time. It's as easy as 1, 2, 3!

1 System Map: This map will give you an idea of the many places you can travel on DASH, and which route/direction you will need to use.

2 Find Your Route: Once you know the route you need, find the corresponding route map. Using the map, find the timepoints (A, B, C, etc.) nearest to your trip start and end points. Your stop may be inbetween timepoints.

3 Check Timetable: Read down the column to see what time a bus is scheduled to depart from a given timepoint

To ensure a pleasant ride for all, DASH asks all passengers to observe the following

All passengers must pay the fare. Operators have the right to refuse service to any non-paying customers.

No smoking, eating, drinking or use of drugs.

No playing of audio devices that can be heard by others.

Please keep your feet off of the seats.

No profanity on the bus.

Be a good neighbor and offer your seat to senior citizens or persons with disabilities if the bus is full or you are seated in the front of the bus.

Check around before you leave to ensure you have all of your belongings.

For your safety, please stand behind the yellow line at the front of the bus.

No solicitation of any kind.

Please have strollers and carts collapsed before stepping on the bus.

Pets must be in carriers aboard DASH and the King Street Trolley. We ask that you make sure the carrier can fit underneath the bus seat if the bus is full.

For safety reasons, no items can block the aisle.

Help us Provide you with Exceptional Service!

If you see a problem on the bus, tell the operator immediately.

If there is a medical emergency, a threat or serious crime being committed and you cannot safely communicate this

to the operator, call 911.

Be prepared to give the bus number, location and direction of travel.

Access Improvements Are Coming to the

King Street-Old Town Metrorail Station!

Here is what you need to know:

Beginning in November 2018, the City of Alexandria and WMATA started a major project to improve the layout, functionality, and capacity of the King Street-Old Town Metrorail Station bus

loop and Kiss & Ride area. The King Street-Old Town Metrorail Station will remain open during construction with no impact to train service, but there will be major impacts to bus, vehicle, and pedestrian access to the station. Customers should allow extra

time to complete their trips. Temporary changes beginning in November 2018

? DASH, King Street Trolley and Metrobus stops will be relocated to Diagonal Road, Daingerfield Road, or King Street. A diagram

of the temporary bus bays and route assignments is shown at right.

? There will be no Kiss & Ride area, metered parking, or shuttle bus access during

construction. On-Street parking will also be limited.
