|SCOPE |8:00AM to 5:00PM: This advanced architectural program examines key accessibility concepts of the 2010 DOJ Standards for Accessible Design and |

| |the 2017 International Code Council/A117.1 in an innovative format oriented toward practical solutions. We apply accessible design concepts |

| |using real world examples, examining what’s required; what’s changing; what’s harmonized; what works; and what does not work for people with |

| |disabilities, contractors, designers, code officials and state accessibility inspectors. The course delves into the shifting perceptions of |

| |accessibility and applications of mobility devices in society that brought about the new ICC/A117.1 expanded wheelchair footprints, turning |

| |radius’, and other fundamental changes that impact square footages, costs and business. We examine how those new ICC/A117.1 provisions do and |

| |do-not harmonize with the 2010 DOJ Standards. Throughout the full day program, we examine interpretations, technical assistance and |

| |clarifications from the US Access Board and the Dept. of Justice, designers, agencies and persons with disabilities, and technical assistance |

| |experts. |
