Worship Service: The Pastor will deliver the message today at 3:00 p.m. at the First Missionary Baptist Church located at 330 Thompson Street, Florence, Alabama 35630. The Gospel Choir has been requested to furnish the song service. Dinner will be served. Church transportation will depart immediately following the 10:45 a.m. worship service.

Intercessory Prayer: Union Chapel will be having a Pre-Revival Intercessory Prayer today, March 8, 2009, at 5:30 p.m. All are invited to come out and be united with one heart and mind believing for a mighty move of God in our upcoming three-night revival service. A church unified is a church at its best.

Revival Services: Spring Revival Services will be held at Union Chapel M. B. Church beginning Monday, March 9, through Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. nightly. Pastor Larry Weathers of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Gadsden, Alabama will be the guest evangelist. Pastor Davis will teach Bible Study each night before Revival Services beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Inspirational Movie: A Christian movie, “Soul Mate,” will premiere at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at the Chan Auditorium located on the UAH Campus. If interested in attending, please contact the Church Office. For additional information concerning the movie, please see the poster on the Church Announcement Board today.

Church-wide Mission Project: Serving the City as ONE is a day of service for Christians across Madison County. We are seeking to demonstrate the love of Christ through service. This great day of service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009. Do not miss out on this incredible opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community. For planning purposes, you must sign up at the Welcome Center now. Serving the City as ONE is based on a ministry called Operation- In- as much. For more detailed information contact your ministry coordinator, the Church Office or visit: , This is a church-wide mission project.

Vacation Bible School – 2009. Adult instructors/workers are needed for our 2009 Vacation Bible School, which will be held on Monday, June 1, 2009, through Friday, June 5, 2009, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. nightly. Specific areas of need include instructors/workers for Infants (Nursery), Preschool II (4 years of age), Preschool III (5 years of age), Primary II (2nd Graders), Primary III (3rd Graders, Juniors I (4th Graders), Juniors II (5th Graders), Juniors III (6th Graders), Arts & Crafts, and Food Service. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete one of the VBS Volunteer Sign-Up Forms located at the Welcome Center. For further information, please contact Sis. Audra Allen.

Watch Ministry: Two weeks ago, the Union Chapel Watch Ministry made an appeal to members for their service to be volunteered in the Watch Ministry. We need your help to formally register by entering your contact information on the Watch Ministry Sign-Up Form. This form is placed in the white binder

labeled "Ministry Sign-Up" located at the Welcome Center in the Church Foyer area. Thank

Youth Department

Tutorial: The Union Chapel Tutorial Program meets each Wednesday at 5:45 p.m.  Tutoring services are offered in all subjects for students grades K-12.  The Tutorial Program is in IMMEDIATE need of math (algebra, geometry, calculus, etc.) and science (biology, chemistry, physics, etc.) tutors; if you are interested in being a tutor, please contact Sis. Jenise Showers or the Church Office.

High School Students: All high school students are requested to complete the Student Profile that is located at the Welcome Center or at the Union Chapel website.

Boy Scouts Troop: The Union Chapel Boy Scouts Troop is now signing up boys between the ages of 7-14 years old to become cub scouts and boy scouts. If interested, please contact Bro. Orish Carter.

Christian Academy

Summer Enrichment Program: Interest Survey/Pre-Registration application for the Academy 2009 Summer Enrichment Program/Summer Camp for ages 6-12 years old is now being accepted.  Applications are available at the Church’s Welcome Center. Scholarship Opportunities

Scholarship Opportunities: The Regularettes Auxiliary is accepting applications for the Annie Ruth Wilson Scholarship for 2009 graduating high school seniors. The deadline for submitting the application is Wednesday, April 1, 2009. The application forms are located at the Church Welcome Center. You may call Mrs. Olene McGowen at 256.837.8436 or Sis. Scholarship Opportunities: The Men of Omega Psi Phi, Incorporated, Psi Kappa Kappa Chapter in partnership with the Y.O.U.T.H. Friendship Foundation, Incorporated are taking applications from area high school seniors for the 2009 Scholarship Campaign. Applications can be picked up at the Church’s Welcome Center or from any member of Psi Kappa Kappa Chapter. The point of contact is Deacon David A. Jones, Scholarship Chairperson.

Page Opportunities: Do you know someone who is 16 yrs. old and has a 3.0 GPA who might be interested in serving in the Obama Administration as a page. Please share this information with friends, family and potential US House of Representatives Page candidates. The honor of serving as a page during the Obama administration will be an invaluable experience. Help identify students to participate in this enlightening educational opportunity. Senior Adult Ministry: The Senior Adult Ministry will meet on Tuesday, March 10, 2009.

Men’s Ministry: The Men’s Ministry is gearing up for its ‘intergenerational harmony’ meeting which will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2009, in the Family Life Center. This will be the year’s first segment of our “quarterly conversation” among the men of the Church. If you have questions, suggestions, or concerns, please feel free to drop a note in the Men’s suggestion box located at the Welcome Center.

Singles Ministry Fellowship: The Singles Ministry will have “Food and Fellowship” at Bunzo’s Seafood located at 12120 County Line Road on Monday, March 16, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. All Singles are invited to attend.

Employment Opportunities

Student Summer Employment: The summer student announcements are schedule to open 2-16 Mar 09. If you know any students that might be interested in the program, have them login into cpol.army.mil and apply. The students can go in now and start working on their resumes so they are ready when the announcements open. The positions are General Clerk, Office Automation Clerk and Engineering Aid/Techs. These lists will be used to fill jobs for all agencies on the Arsenal. We do not know at this time which agencies will be hiring or how many positions will be available. Aerobics: Aerobics classes are now being held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. of each week in the Family Life Center.

Veronica White, passed on Saturday, February 28, 2009, in Boston, Massachusetts.  Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church located in Dorchester, Massachusetts. The Davis Funeral Home located in Dorchester handled the final arrangements
