The successful candidate will be a self-starting strategic thinker and process-oriented leader who is inspired by the opportunity to transform the lives of Raleigh Rescue Mission’s clients. It is the responsibility of the Mission to meet each client where he or she is and customizing our services to create successful outcomes for him or her.To learn more, visit Raleigh Rescue Mission’s website: Responsibilities of the COOOperations Strategy and ManagementUnderstands the day to day work of each member of the Raleigh Rescue Mission team, spending time with team members from all shifts regularly.Transforms the strategic vision into strategic operation, identifying key metrics to track progress toward goals.Implements systems and processes across the operations to ensure proper data is collected for the defined metrics.Uses the Traction model to keep strategic operations moving consistently toward goals.Oversees and ensures the successful implementation of risk management, legal, business insurance, property management, human resources, and information technology activities, policies, and procedures.Develops and manages the overall operations budget and works in partnership with each reporting director to monitor department budgets.Provides regular updates of progress against operational goals to the CEO, the leadership team, and the Board of Directors.Partners with the CEO, the Board, and the staff team to develop and refine strategic priorities.Human ResourcesLeads staff and volunteer management through the lens of the Mission’s core values and the structure of Traction.Oversees the planning and implementation of all HR functions in partnership with the Director of Staff and Volunteer Engagement including and related to recruitment, hiring, termination, compensation, benefits planning, professional training and development, performance management, and succession planning.Ensures appropriate recruitment, screening, mobilization, communication, and stewardship of volunteers in partnership with the Director of Staff and Volunteer EngagementMonitors staff culture and morale, implementing strategies to continually strengthen both.Develops and implements an internal communications strategy to ensure the timely, consistent, and appropriate distribution of information across the Mission staff.Ensures regulatory and legal compliance, process timely and appropriate insurance renewals, and make HR policy and procedure recommendations. Facilities and Campus ManagementCreates and oversees a facility plan that maximizes efficiencies for the Hargett Street and Capital Blvd properties in partnership with the Director of Operations.Develops a strategic business plan in partnership with the Director of Operations to improve performance of the retail operations.Works in partnership with the CEO to develop plans to expand or alter existing facilities as programs require.Applies sound and proven business practices and implements industry best practices, business policies, and internal controls to minimize risk, safeguard corporate assets, and improve operational efficiencies. TechnologyDrives the development, implementation, and maintenance of a technology plan that provides a mechanism for data collection and analysis to inform defined metrics for programs, fundraising, finance, retail, and general operations.Implements strategies to ensure staff adoption and use of technology as required by each position.Staff Supervision and Development Supervises 4 directors. Develops and oversees individual and team goals, workplans, and benchmarks for success in support of priorities and goals.Coaches staff, instilling a collaborative leadership culture throughout the organization. Promotes cross-department collaboration and team building.SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND ATTRIBUTES OF THE CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICERThe Chief Operations Officer must demonstrate an unwavering commitment to and passion for Raleigh Rescue Mission’s mission and core values. The ideal candidate will possess sufficient experience and training to execute the responsibilities of the position.
