However, all forms of writing, narrative, informative, and argument, are taught throughout all ELA classes. All forms of creative writing are assigned throughout grades k-12. Suzanne Palmer - Gifted ServicesGifted Operating Standards - to be reviewed every 5 years, should have been done in 2013, have been waiting to do, do to multiple drafts, etc; the HYPERLINK "" \h draft just passed to go to the administrative process with the intent to adopt.Ben Rule - OELPAStudents who qualify for support learning English (ELs) are required to take an annual state test to measure their English Language Proficiency, in addition to other state assessments. This test determines who continues to qualify for EL support and which students no longer need support. This past year, English Learners in Ohio were assessed with a new online test in Ohio called the OELPA (Ohio English Language Proficiency Assessment). Ohio districts just received the results of the OELPA 2016 test in the past couple weeks. Surprisingly, many more students were classified as Proficient in English than we would typically expect. For many students, this is good news and indicates achievement of a high level of English proficiency. For other EL students, district and state test data indicates a need for continued support. We are coordinating data and advocacy efforts with other central Ohio districts that share our concerns. Worthington is committed to providing support for all students so that all will be successful. Dr, Neil Gupta - Planning for High School Pathway and Choices - what are the options?HS Program Offerings - Shared the various high school program offerings we have in our district.Watched a video “Groundbreaking Educational Programs” - glimpses and snapshots of some of the buildings and their offerings.Jennifer mentioned another program that wasn’t in the presentation, the entrepreneurial program at TWHS, we have so many programs sometimes it’s difficult to mention them all!Closing/Questions - jot down any questions for Neil for end of meeting.Patrick Callaghan - Overview of the revised Elementary Progress Report and Standards Based Learning. What does it mean?Powerpoint linkShared the implementation of the revised elementary progress reports which parents received in late November. Shared the highlights of the revision, including the writing of more specific learning standards for each content area that more directly communicated with parents what the end-or-grade level expectations at any grade for students are. Also reviewed the unified marking scale that indicates students progress toward the end-of-year standards. The words that describe the number system are more important than the numbers, and a mark of "3" is exactly where we expect at student at any grade to land related to standards and being successful at their grade level. Patrick will develop a tool for gathering feedback from teachers and parents at the end of this school year.Patrick asked everyone to comment on a post it note with any questions/comments/concerns about the elementary progress report, and he will be sure to follow up.Dr, Neil Gupta - Follow up on the New Graduation RequirementsNew Graduation Requirements - we reviewed a question and answer document with questions pertaining to the course requirements, state tests, ACT, and Industry-Credential. The information will be posted to our district website. Group split up into teams to go over the FAQ’s, one team member to take notes, mark up the handout with questions/comments/concernsJennifer Wene - ClosingJennifer will send another survey she’d like everyone to complete. The next CLC meeting will be attending the State of the Schools presentation on February 2, 6:30-8:00 at WKHSWhat topics do you want to hear about at next meeting?Open meeting to comments/questions?CLC Roster 2016-2017SchoolFirst NameLast NameEmail AddressElementary SchoolsBluffsviewKathyaMahadevanmahadevank@BluffsviewCindiTimmonscinditimmons@BrooksideCristinaTaylor cristinam0506@Colonial HillsSarahHanka-Stoddardsarahehanka@Evening StreetAimeeWellejusaimeew@columbus.GranbyRebeccaBillingslearebcca1218@LibertyKelliDaviskelliskrafts@Slate HillHeatherBaughhlbaugh@Sutter Park PreschoolJaelithTaddeojtaddeos@Wilson HillAmyFeatherstoneamylouisekoenig@Worthington EstatesJillGrimmdupont88@Worthington HillsMargieToymargiehtoy@Worthington ParkPadmaKonda Kalyanipad31084@Worthington ParkAbbieMayosubiz@Middle SchoolsKilbourneTamiEricksontamipeteerickson@KilbourneKimLendemeyerleah992002@McCordEmilieGreenwaldemiliegreenwald@McCordBethCattunarbeth@PhoenixJennyFindelljfindell@PhoenixPreetaNaveenpreetanaveen@WorthingwayValSwearenginvswearengen@High SchoolsThomas WorthingtonKathyMontagkmontag@Thomas WorthingtonCristinaBrandtcissieb64@Worthington KilbourneStacieStoutsstout2@Worthington KilbourneLizShafranliz@LinworthMaryaKowalmkkowal@Worthington AcademyMarcyKottingmarcy.kotting@Worthington Schools Education CenterChief Academic OfficerJenniferWenejwene@SuperintendentTrentBowerstbowers@PTA Council PresidentMargieToyptacpresident@Board MemberJulieKeeganjkeegan@Board MemberCharlieWilsoncwilson@ ................
