Teacher Certification Programs -316230-89027000ALBRIGHT SCHOOL OF EDUCATIONDIVERSITY SCHOLARHIP INFORMATION PAGECommitted to the goal of educating and facilitating the placement of teachers of color in classrooms to serve our diverse communities across Washington State, the Albright School of Education at City University of Seattle has awarded Diversity Scholarships since 2001. The Diversity Scholarships are available to qualified individuals who represent the ethnic diversity of our communities. There are eight scholarships available this year of $2,000 each. Eligible candidates are those who have been admitted into one of the following teacher certification programs:Master in Teaching (standard and performance-based)Bachelor of Arts in EducationAlternative Routes to Teacher CertificationThe Diversity Scholarships are awarded on the basis of:Applicant’s commitment and potential for contributing to his/her diverse community, andDemonstrating financial need, based upon adjusted growth income (AGI) from current tax return.Applications will be available mid-July of the first quarter in teacher certification program. Complete application packets must be received by August 31st. Diversity Scholarships may be applied towards tuition only. Scholarship awards may not be used for fees such as course challenges or Prior Learning. A complete application packet includes: FORMCHECKBOX Completed Diversity Scholarship Application FORMCHECKBOX Copy of tax return indicating AGI (e.g., page 1 of Form 1040) FORMCHECKBOX A one-page personal statement that addresses the following: Reflecting upon your own personal journey within the context of your unique cultural and ethnic heritage, tell us how your life experiences influenced you to dedicate your future to the profession of teaching. In what ways do you see yourself contributing to the aspirations and potential of youth in your community? FORMCHECKBOX Three (3) Professional Letters of Recommendation addressing applicant’s commitment to contributing to the community. Note: These may be the same letters of recommendation submitted for acceptance into teacher certification program.
