Position: Employment Supports Specialist

Reports directly to: Director of Professional Services

Supervisory Duties: None

DOL: Non-exempt

Status: Part-time or Full-time

Job Summary:

An Employment Supports Specialist is responsible for providing support services to assist assigned consumers with gaining and retention of employment. Such support services may include/but are not limited to; supervision and oversight of consumers performing community based assessments, develop relationships with area businesses and persons served, continued modified intervention and follow-up services, assist with acclamation to variety of business settings, provide positive reinforcements to persons served, documenting and reporting of activities, provide transportation to persons served.

Essential Functions:

1. Conducts community based assessments by evaluating person’s skills, interests, aptitudes and needs.

2. Acts as a mentor and models work skills and behaviors.

3. Learns tasks of job, assists consumers in meeting employer’s expectations.

4. Provides outstanding customer service to consumers, community partners and businesses.

5. Maintains accurate records and documentation, case notes, assessment and progress reports.

6. Ability to work independently in a variety of settings.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of three (3) years of work experience. Related work experience may be substituted for educational qualifications.

• Must have a valid Class E Missouri driver’s license and posses an excellent driving record.

• Must have or be able to obtain certification in First Aid, CPR and CPI within 90 days of employment.

Preferred Experience:

• Knowledge of community resources, area businesses and basic counseling techniques.

• Knowledge of case management procedures and documentation.

• Good organizational and time management skills.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population.

• Good problem solving abilities.

• Sensitivity, understanding and acceptance of consumers needs and personal issues.

• Ability to conduct self in a professional manner, maintaining confidences as well as in relations with other personnel and the community.

• Ability to safely and legally operate a vehicle or to locate reliable transportation to perform job duties as required.

Working Conditions:

• Work is typically performed in an interior/office work environment.

• No or very minimal physical effort is required.

• Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks or hazards, which require following basic safety procedures.

• All OSHA required training is provided to staff to ensure safety.
