Iris 29 - Body Glyphix Studio

February 26th, 2019 Issue #160The Iris The Bodhi Glyphix Studio

Greetings!

Twelve years ago, I moved from the village of East Aurora to my home here in Wales NY. I would like to give a big "shout out" to all of you for making the successful transition with me into our country home!! I have added more organic grounds to the already existing herb gardens, babbling brook, wishing well, and the peaceful feeling the country brings to the soul here. The inside is as organic and natural as possible. We have a clean air machine that runs whenever we are open. Even the lighting emits a natural light! Just wanted to "Thank You" all for your support and look forward to serving you and the community~ eternally here.

Breathe deep- the crisp air, the quiet energies that flow through the planet and our bodies this time of year. Allow the energies of our planet to connect with our bodies. The earth sleeps in our part of the planet this time of year. So do our bodies, we find ourselves wanting to curl up with a good book or watch a good movie.  Our bodies and the earth have much in common! We both have a heartbeat, magnetic poles, meridians/latitude/longitude lines and a pranic flow.  We both have processes such as exfoliation, oxidation, and erosion. Think about processes of digestion and respiration as to plate tectonics, volcanism, and climate change. Earth has a respiratory system and humans have weather patterns and climate controls. Earth has a nervous system and humans have stress patterns and earthquakes.  Earth has blood vessels, lungs, liver, and kidneys and humans have stream networks, neural networks, climates, and swamps. It is important for us to connect with Gaia, Mother Earth. Bundle up~ find time to get outdoors and take a walk. Getting grounded, absorbing the energy from our planet.

It’s also a good time to go within and reflect or to begin a meditation practice.  Need help starting? Scroll down~ Come join us for Yoga Nidra~ the best and most healing of all meditations or for a Yoga class.

Mercury Goes Retrograde

From 5th March to 28th March, the first Mercury Retrograde of 2019 will be coming to haunt us. I wouldn’t say it will be a terrible period, but it definitely won’t be the best time for many of the sun signs as it brings confusion, tension, chaos, and miscommunication among us.

Gemini

Mercury is your ruling planet and since it is going retrograde, it will affect you severely. This retrograde will affect your communication skills. Generally, Geminis do not have a problem with communication. They are very confident and can do it quite easily.

But during this period of retrograde they will find themselves less communicative, will fail to express anything properly, and will end up being a bit tongue-tied. Don’t lose your wits when this happens. Try to be clearer and communicate in a concise manner. Think before you speak. Relax, as stress can make it worse.

Cancer

Cancerians are very emotional. But this retrograde, your emotions will be taken a notch higher than usual. It will come to the surface and blast out. You will be bursting out on different people and this will create a mess of your relationships with others.

While you are allowed to be emotional, try not to let it explode and make it uncomfortable for others. Try to be a bit reasonable and think before you speak. You do not want to lose people just because of the retrograde.

Leo

As a Leo, you always need to be at the centre of the stage. The spotlights should be on you and everyone should be looking at you. But during this retrograde, you will be encountering a bit of a change. You will recede to the corner and stay there while someone else takes the center.

Yes, it might affect your integral desire to get into the spotlight, but try to think of it as a break. Enjoy it while it lasts because, by the end of the retrograde, you are going back to the center of the stage again.

Virgo

There is a tensed time that is coming your way. You have been trying too hard for too long and you have seen your efforts leading to failure only. But you need to relax. Try to take yourself away from things that make you worked up.

The good news is, during this retrograde, you will be more willing to do so. But while this liberation will take place, you will find yourself getting more and more confused about whether you are doing the right thing or not. Rest assured, as by the end of the retrograde, it will all start to make sense.

Libra

You are generally reasonable and have a way to provide the right kind of judgment when the time comes. Biases do not work with you as you do not let your emotions sway. You have the right kind of mind which helps you to look at things properly and then come to a specific conclusion.

But you will not be enjoying the same kind of skill during the retrograde. This retrograde will not allow you to keep your emotions to yourself. You will be revealing it more and more and that will color your experience. Try to keep your cool and be mindful of what you release. Connect and embrace your emotions to understand them better and then you will know how to deal with them.

Aquarius

The retrograde will be a frustrating time for you. You will feel like nothing is going right and that will just make you mad. However, this is just short-sightedness. If you believe in the universe, you will know that nothing goes wrong when the universe has an active role in it.

It is going right for you – you just don’t understand it yet because you can’t look at the larger picture. Try to expand your perspective and then you will be able to understand it better.

The retrograde may be challenging, but things will be fine in due course. You may not understand it but the lessons that this retrograde brings will strengthen you in the future.

The Anniversary of my NDE

Today is my anniversary of Gratitude. Eleven years ago~ I was about to take my last breath, and experienced a NDE “Near Death Experience” after contracting a parasite in the Belizean Jungle (pictures are of the cave where I got the parasite), searching for Mayan relics & history. Doctors had misdiagnosed me, after many long stays in hospitals, I found the parasite through self diagnosis~ Iridology and Energy Work. It was too late, I weighed only 85 pounds. My Oncologist gave my family two days to get my legal info in order.

I was in my living room, awake in pain. I felt as though I was floating out of my body, my deceased mother was calling me upward into a tube of white light. She looked beautiful, a fluorescent white light was caressing me- she told me the pain would be gone where we were going. I felt the pain leave my body as we went higher into the light. My mother had my hand and I was ready to go anywhere with her. I looked down beneath us and saw my crumpled dead body on the couch in my living room. I then realized I was about to cross over, I told my mother I was not ready for this~ I would like to see Kirsten & Elke (my grandchildren) grow up. She told me it was my choice~ but the pain would return and I would have to work hard at healing myself. I agreed to go back- feeling myself back on the couch in my living room, in my body. I panicked~ my root chakra could not find the earth. After doing Yogic breathing I was able to calm down and relax.

I knew I had my work cut out for me~ my lungs, heart, pancreas, kidneys, thyroid, and digestion and elimination were failing. Through self- Iridology, Energy work, lots of herbs and Yoga~ I was able to throw way the walker, depends, care takers and thrive. My mission was to remain on the earth~ help my daughter beat her cancer and many others that I will continue to help until my last breath. It is said that one has to have a near death experience to be a Shaman or a healer~ the near death experience has definitely made me a better healer and heightened my intuition. My insight and foresight were increased tenfold. I now give thanks every day I awaken and have a different out look on life.

The pictures are the cave opening, inside where we had to swim in to get to a interior ledge, it was a 3 hour hike to the internal waterfall and a picture of a Mayan teenager’s skeleton that we found which was a sacrifice.

EMOTIONAL PSOAS

“One thing you can’t hide – is when you’re crippled inside.” ~ John Lennon

Pelvis is shaped like a bowl and the spine just like a straw that is dipped in the bowl connecting the brain to the entire network in the body. A complex unit of muscles, bones, tendons, fascia fibers and ligaments, pelvis houses integral muscles connecting the upper and lower extremities. Our mind often tucks away emotions, stress, pain in the confines of the hip bowl. That is why our hips are referred as the junk drawer or the storage room for dodged emotions.

Hips acquire a central role in our lives. The main muscle groups of the hip flexors, iliopsoas muscles, sartorius and Rectus Femoris, are responsible for the flight, fight and freeze response in the body.

“Our ancient (reptilian) brain recognizes danger by smell, look, feel and sound.” Since childhood, our sympathetic nervous system prepares your body for any form of dangerous, stressful situation or sudden shock by contracting the hip flexors and the muscles in the middle body.

Parasympathetic nervous system, responsible for ‘rest and digest’ or ‘feed and breed’ syndrome neutralizes the impact of the sympathetic nervous system and creates a sense of harmony in the body.

But due to highly strenuous atmosphere and surroundings, our body resets the benchmark of usual state of being, when it comes to stress and shock. Simply put, the body is chronically stressed and the hip flexors are on alert throughout.

But by now, the body recognizes tightness of hip flexors and suppressed emotions, to be a natural state of being. This leads to hampering the functions of the autonomic nervous system.

Psoas Muscle – Trauma to Recovery

A significant part of instinctual reflexes, psoas is the only flexor muscle connecting the spine to the legs and fasciae connecting to the diaphragmatic breathing system. A tight psoas muscle therefore, leads to shortness of breath or chest breathing, adding on to stress further. The cyclical motion of stress, which indirectly affects psoas and tight psoas attributing to stress levels cannot be broken until an external stimulus is injected.

Liz Koch further adds that the fear of falling, getting into a dangerous situation is yet another instinctual reflex. As the body recognizes such a situation, it slips into a safety zone. “..the psoas pulls the extremities together into a fetal pose, creating an enclosure, a sense of safety and protection for the soft, vulnerable parts of the body: Genitals, belly organs, lungs, heart and face. Curled, the spine gives the necessary resilience and strength against the imminent blow.”

The emotional traumas imbalance the deep core along with the psoas and creates restrictions in the root and sacral chakra.

After a trauma, it is the ardent need of the body to come back in safety restoration mode. But just by telling someone that they are safe, the restoration does not fall back. The body has its own system to break free from the setback.

Sometimes this breakthrough comes through re-enactment of an incident in the mind and a feeling of overcoming it. We release the deeper levels of emotions gradually, as the feeling of safety starts to set in. But the frozen residual traumatic energy is still left in the psoas and hip area, as some of the strongest muscles are situated in this region.

So what should one do to release the psoas muscles? Just by massaging the psoas muscles or activating them, we might trigger the memories of the past.

A conscious awareness, a resolved psoas (of the facilitator like the chiropractor or yoga teacher) and supportive positioning can lead to a gradual recovery.

Releasing the Trauma in the Hips

With alternate sciences gaining a warm acceptance, art forms like Yoga, Trauma Release Exercise (TRE), Fascia Unwinding, Hands on Healing, Meditation, Visualization techniques, all are being taken up. Many war survivors, soldiers, people survived in car accidents are being subjected to such therapies.

May I add that we work this muscle often in our yoga classes. We also recognize the “Inner Child” seeks protection in the bottom of our pelvic bowl. When we are under constant stress and do not find time to sit and meditate, or just rest with out distractions. The media, news and friends and family sharing gloom and doom also contract our psoas and causes our Inner Child to seek cover. Joining me for Yoga or Yoga Nidra Meditation is the prefect solution. Check below for our current schedule and upcoming events.

It’s Time to Cleanse Our Lymphatics

Feeling Sluggish and Blah? The winter season is a time of year when people tend to be less active. In addition, we tend to eat less healthy, due to less availability of fresh fruits or vegetables. Our diets may also have gotten “off track” by over-indulging in the Holiday “comfort” foods. Your lymphatic system is a key player in the removal of toxins and waste from your body, as well as keeping your immune system healthy. The lymphatic system is like your blood vessel system but carries lymphatic fluid instead of blood. The blood nourishes the cells whereas the lymph cleans them.

Inactivity causes the lymphatic system to become congested. The lymphatic system does not have a pump to move it through the body like the blood does, with the heart. Lymph moves instead because of contractions in our muscles during movement, by way of gravity and by the constant pressure of lymph in and out of the cells. When you become injured or are inactive your lymphatic system can get congested and your health can go downhill quickly.

Some common symptoms of Lymph congestion:

• Feeling stiff and sore in the mornings

• Rings get tight around your fingers

• Marks around your ankles from your socks, ankles swell

• Body odor or foul-smelling stools

• Feeling tired and sluggish, heavy legs

• Itchy skin

• Brain fog

• Breast swelling or tenderness

• Skin rashes, hives, excess moles, or acne

• Oversensitive to chemicals and allergens

• Dull headaches

• Frequent sore throats, weak immune system

• Mucus congestion in lungs, sinus or colon which does not resolve easily

• Constipation, with some diarrhea at times.

• Weight gain which does not let go (toxins are stored in fat cells), weight gain at the end of day and bloating in intestinal region.

• Cancer can be a sign of sluggish lymph – the cells become toxic and can no longer take in nutrients or release waste properly. They become dysfunctional and no longer work for the good of the whole body.

In Ayurvedic medicine, a congested lymphatic system is caused by something called Ama, which builds up in the body. Think of Ama as a condition where toxins and undigested foods accumulate in the body. For example, undigested proteins floating in the blood or intestinal tract create Ama. In addition, Ama could be an undigested emotion such as a past trauma, which is held in the body and disrupts the energy flow in the body. Ama cause your sweat, urine, bowel movements or other bodily fluids to have a foul odor. Ama is very sticky, Western Herbalists called this catarrh or phlegm. This stickiness contributes to constipation and to acne breakouts.

To clear the body of Ama and cleanse the lymphatic system you need to detox your body with special herbs which target the lymph.

Here are 3 of my favorites:

Lymphomax – This is a Key product for cleansing the lymphatic system. It contains powerful lymph cleansing herbs which target the blood and immune system.

It contains cleavers, garlic, red root, lobelia and echinacea which are my favorite lymphatic herbs. These herbs are like “Super Heroes” when it comes to shrinking swollen glands, cleansing the lymph and clearing out mucus. This is a great for activating weight loss.

BP-X – this combination of 12 herbs is traditionally known as a blood cleanser. The herbs in this formula enhance detoxification in the body. They help to cleanse the kidneys and colon, enhance digestion and bile function, and support the immune system. Several of the herbs in this formula also target the lymphatic system. Pau d’arco is the key herb in this formula. It is excellent for cleansing the blood and lymph. This herb has a long history of helping to combat cancer because of its immune modulating and anti-tumor properties. It also has strong immune system supporting properties. Pau d’Arco has a special affinity to the skin so it is very good to help clear Ama congestion from the skin which results in skin conditions.

Ayurvedic Joint Health – Joint Health contains 12 herbs familiar to Eastern herbalism. Ayurvedic medicine considers stiff and achy joints and arthritis to be signs of lymph congestion and Ama. This formula has an emphasis on a restoring harmony and balance in our body and joints, due to imbalances created from pollution, stress, junk food, and busy lifestyles.

This was written by a friend and college Valerie McGuirre.

We also do Asanas (yoga poses) to help move/clear lymphatic congestion and stagnation. When we work our Heart Chakras, we are working our lymphatics. Dry Skin Brushing, (use a natural bristle boars hair brush) towards your heart is another great way to pull toxins out of your lymphatics. A great time to use this modality, is just before you shower. It literally takes but a few minutes. Also rebounding (mini trampoline) daily for 5 minutes works great for lymphatic cleansing. Laughter is the easiest way to encourage your lymphatics to push toxins out!! Kali Rose

YOGA NIDRA

Please join me for a very special yoga meditation class called Yoga Nidra. This is not your typical mediation~ YN opens up doorways, releases blockages, it heals every organ, bone, muscle etc, it goes DEEP in to ALL levels of consciousness, releasing scars from traumas & abuses we have suffered from in this lifetime and more.  Studies have shown the benefits of Yoga Nidra to be significant at reducing effects of stress hormone cortisol, high blood pressure, addictions, aggression, ADD, ADHD, PTSD, Heart disease, asthma, diabetes, digestive conditions, ulcers, eczema, chronic pain, cancer, pre and post surgery, psychological challenges and much more! Your YN takes you through the veils of life, afterlife, and previous lifetimes.  We experience time travel, astral projection and it's also trippy! YN has an emphasis on health and healing where habitual thinking and thought patterns are reduced or eliminated. It also helps with insomnia and stress reduction and brings an incredible calmness, quietness, clarity and is one of the deepest of all meditations.

Yoga Nidra means Yogic Sleep and is a state of conscious Deep Sleep. In this Meditation, you remain in the Waking state of consciousness, and gently focus the mind, while allowing thought patterns, emotions, sensations, and images to arise and go on. However, in this meditation, you leave the Waking state, go past the Dreaming state, and go to Deep Sleep, yet remain awake. While Yoga Nidra is a state that is very relaxing, it is also used by Yogis to purify the Samskaras (negative energy & thought patterns).  It’s also great for insomniacs and those who suffer with PTSD, as well as a powerful tool for manifesting. You will have the best sleep Wednesday night!!

The class is being held on Monday March 4th at 7:30 PM at our studio (click here for directions). The class lasts about 55 minutes. The fee is $12.  Pre-registration is a must- call or email us for more information or reservations.  Should you reserve and are unable to attend- please let us know- for there is usually a cancellation/waiting list.
