|Step |Action |

|1 |Select the Recruiting link |

Welcome!

We are going to evaluate the candidates that have applied for a job and decide who should be interviewed.

We are at the PeopleSoft Home page.

To start, we click on the Recruiting link.

Figure 2

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|2 |Select the Find Job Openings link |

This is the fan page that lists all of the links available from the Recruiting menu.

Figure 3

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|3 |Click on the Job Opening ID field |

We start at the search screen.

Notice all the different ways that you can search for a job opening.

For this example, we wrote down the job opening ID when we created the job requisition - so we will use that to search by.

Remember that you can search by any of the fields you see on this page to find your job opening.

Figure 4

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|4 |Type 10416 and press tab |

We're going to pretend that the job opening ID for our job is 10416.

Figure 5

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|5 |Click on Search |

When you have typed in all of your search criteria, you press the search button to activate the search.

Figure 6

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|6 |Click on the job title |

Since we searched for a specific job ID, only one job was found.

If you had searched more generally (like choosing to see all jobs in a specific business unit, for example) there would be a list of jobs to pick from.

Once you locate your job, you click on the job title to select it.

Figure 7

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|7 |Click on the Resume to open it. |

Great!

Here are the applicants that have applied for your job.

Remember that you can be doing this as soon as people apply.

You can't interview until the job closes, but you can be evaluating candidates as soon as they enter the system.

Our job now is to evaluate each applicant and decide who to inteview, and who to reject.

To start, we will look at the applicant's resumes.

Let's try to click on the first applicant's resume.

Figure 8

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|8 |Click on this resume |

Hmmm! Nothing happened!

When an applicant attaches their resume as a seperate file, PeopleSoft wants to open the resume in a new window - (or a new tab, if you are using Internet Explorer 7).

Unfortunately, we often set our browser to block pop ups, which makes this difficult.

There are instructions in the "Resources" section of this class for setting your browser to allow the resumes to function.

For now - let's click on a different resume.

Figure 9

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|9 |Click on the scroll bar |

This resume displayed because the applicant didn't attach the document as a seperate file, but copied and pasted the text directly into the application.

You can scroll through the resume by using the scroll bar.

For this exercise, click on the scroll bar.

Figure 10

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|10 |Click the Cancel button |

Now that you have looked through the resume, you can click the Cancel button to return to the list of applicants.

Figure 11

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|11 |Click the Evaluate link |

By pressing Cancel, you were returned to this screen.

Your job is to review the applicants' resumes and decide who you will interview and who you will reject.

We will start by evaluating the first candidate.

Figure 12

[pic]

When you click on the Evaluate link, this screen appears in a new window.

If you are using Internet Explorer 7, it will appear as a new tab - if you are using a non-tabbed browser, it will open in a new window.

For each applicant, you will:

1. click on the evaluate link,

1. click on the add competencies to job opening link,

1. evaluate their competencies,

1. save the data and

1. close the window (or tab).

You must click on the Add Competencies from Job Opening to bring the competencies you described in your job posting into the applicant's area.

|Step |Action |

|12 |Click on Add Competencies to Job Opening link |

New Tab (indicating a new window)

Figure 13

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|13 |Click on Required Work Experience |

Super!

Notice that the job competencies have been added.

The Minimum Quals are at the bottom of the list.

The desired Quals are above that.

The only part of the screen that must be filled in is the proficiency column.

If a candidate doesn't meet minimum quals, then you don't have to fill in the desired quals - you can leave them blank.

Each candidate must have the proficiency column filled in (at least the min quals).

We start at the bottom - let's pretend that (after reviewing Darrell's resume) you determine that he has the required work experience.

Figure 14

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|14 |Click on YES |

In our example, we are going to say that Darrell's resume indicates that he has the work experience for this job.

Please select Yes

Figure 15

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|15 |Click here |

Now click on the OR Equivalency menu.

Figure 16

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|16 |Select the Not Applicable item |

Since Darrell has the work experience, the equivalency can be Not applicable.

Figure 17

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|17 |Click here |

Now click on the Required Education menu.

Figure 18

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|18 |Select the Not Applicable item |

Because he has the work experience, we are clicking on not applicable.

You can choose to document his education level here.

Figure 19

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|19 |Click here |

That's the end of the minimum quals - which is required for every candidate.

If Darrell had not met any of the minimum Quals, then you would be done, and could have clicked the save button, closed the window and gone to the next candidate.

But Darrell DOES meet the minimum, so you have to evaluate against the desired quals.

This is all to help you decide who you should interview.

Click on the Code Building Construction menu.

Figure 20

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|20 |Select the Yes item |

According to Darrell's resume he does know code building construction.

So pick yes here.

Figure 21

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|21 |Click the Save button |

Then you would continue up the list, evaluating each competency.

For this exercise, we will cut short for now so that we can get to other items.

After evaluating all of the competencies for a candidate, click on the Save button.

Figure 22

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|22 |Close the tab |

Now that we have saved our results - we will close this window and go to the next candidate.

If you are in a tabbed browser, you click on the X on the tab.

If you browser doesn't use tabs, then close the window by clicking on the white X in the red box in the upper right corner of the window.

Figure 23

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|23 |Select the Evaluate link |

Now we are back on the first screen.

Let's evaluate another candidate.

This time we will say that she does NOT meet minimum quals, according to her resume.

Figure 24

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|24 |Select the Add Competencies from Job Opening link |

So now a new window (or tab, in this example) has been opened.

As with each of our candidates, we have to click on Add competencies from Job Opening

Figure 25

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|25 |Click on the Required Work Experience field |

We start at the bottom, but this time, (based on the person's resume), we think that this person does not meet the work or educational requirements.

Let's fill that in.

Figure 26

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|26 |Select the No item |

Figure 27

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|27 |Click the Required Education field |

Figure 28

|Step |Action |

|28 |Select the No item |

Figure 29

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|29 |Click the OR Equivalency field |

Figure 30

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|30 |Select the Not Applicable item |

Figure 31

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|31 |Click the Save button |

Super!

We've determined that this person does not meet the education or work experience required. Therefore we don't have to fill in the desired quals.

We can click on the Save button

Figure 32

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|32 |Select the Applicant Evaluation Summary link |

Before we close this window and go back to the list of applicants,

there is a way to view ALL of the applicants and ALL of the qualifications in a grid.

You can even export it to excel!

Here's how -

When you are in an applicant's screen (like we are now) - you can click on the Applicant Evaluation Summary screen.

Figure 33

[pic]

This is the summary screen.

See the applicants listed down the side, and the quals across the top?

To see all of the quals at once, you click on the show all columns icon.

|Step |Action |

|33 |Click on the Show all columns icon. |

Figure 34

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|34 |Click the Save button |

Now we see the list of applicant and all the quals.

You can print this screen for your use.

Before closing this screen, save the data by clicking on Save.

You can export this to excel by clicking here.

Figure 35

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|35 |Click the Close X |

Since we have saved the data, we can close this window (or tab) to return to the list of applicants.

Figure 36

You click on the down arrow to view the list of reasons, and then select one by clicking on it.

For this example, we will choose Lacks Min Qualifications.

Figure 40

[pic]

|Step |Action |

|40 |Click the Submit button |

Figure 41

[pic]

Notice that the Disposition of Prathima is now Reject.

You now have to repeat this process until all applicants are either rejected or will be interviewed -

You will learn how to set up interviews in the next exercise.

This is the end of this simulation.

Go to the next exercise by clicking on the Practice Exercise link on the left-hand menu of this course.
