Clicker 6 - Hands-OnThis is an EXAMPLE outline of a training plan for a 2-3 hour hands-on session with Clicker 61 hour – detailed demonstration of Clicker 61-2 hours - HANDS-ON: DocumentUsing Instant Pictures:Everyone write a sentence to test speech support e.g. ‘My name is John’. Leading the group, activate picture support in document from ‘Options’ menu; ‘User Preferences’; ‘Media’ tab. Check ‘CPL3’ and ‘Document’. Ensure that the Predictor is NOT checked. Experiment with sentence creation using animal nouns e.g. ‘I went to the zoo and I saw a NAME, NAME, NAME and a NAME. This could also be a good opportunity to run through the other User Preference options and look at some of the other tabs.Accessing the Predictor:Click the predictor icon. Float / cursor track is default setting so that predictor stays with writing; show that you can also drag to any position on screen to fix. Allow time to experiment. Leading the group, click the Predictor icon, go back into Options / User Preferences / Media and enable picture support in the Predictor. Illustrate and encourage experimentation. Adding pictures to the document:Leading the group, demonstrate how pictures can be inserted using the Insert Picture icon – browse computer (could browse to flash drives if wanted), Paint a picture using integrated Clicker Paint AND take a live picture with a webcam.Depending on the time allocated, you could work through ALL the wizards – this is just a selection: Sentence Building WizardClicker Set / New Clicker Set / Quick Grid Wizards / Sentence BuildingCopy and paste text from the ‘Week Sentences’ file (or other set of pre-written sentences)Change the color of the weekday names to a yellow highlight (will be the background color of the cell when the set is created). Edit Clicker SetAdding a grid – navigate to ‘Outline’ tab. Click on the ‘+’ sign at left corner of any grid in the outline. Choose from duplicate (identical); Add New (opt to use same template or a new one). Adding a picture to a cell – highlight Sentence 1 (On Monday I watched a movie). Navigate to ‘Media’ tab. Select CPL3. Type ‘movie’ into the search window – Clicker 6 now has searchable picture libraries. Drag and drop the movie theater picture into the ‘movie’ cell.
